Can a beginner do the Tour du Mont Blanc trek?

If you’ve never done a walking holiday in France before then the Tour du Mont Blanc is a great challenging introduction to the wonderful world of Alpine trekking. However, it is tough and even the lower graded trips require you to be a good weekend walker before setting off. For those looking for more of a challenge then our 'Ultimate' Tour du Mont Blanc is a hefty Grade 9, suitable for experienced walkers with a good level of fitness.

Is the Tour du Mont Blanc trek steep?

The short answer is yes. You will be climbing high up over mountain passes before descending back down to Alpine meadows. It will be steep at times, but it is forgiving and there will be flatter sections too.

Can you suffer altitude sickness on the Tour du Mont Blanc?

Altitude is unlikely to affect you along the Tour du Mont Blanc. However, our 'Ultimate' Tour du Mont Blanc Trek does reach 2,800m, which can bring on some symptoms.
