Everest Base Camp With Alasdair

My name is Alasdair and I work in the Marketing team at KE Adventure. A couple of months ago I was asked if I wanted to join one of our Everest Base Camp Treks. Who would say no?! But then it dawned on me, I had just a few weeks to prepare for an incredibly gruelling high altitude trek in a country I had never been to before.

Needless to say I had loads of questions. But luckily, working at KE Adventure I have a multitude of experienced people I could ask about Nepal. So, I grabbed a few of them for a chat in front of a camera to help share their answers.

If you have any questions not answered below then feel free to give the team a call and we can help get them answered.

Alasdair's Diary on the Trail

Along the trail to Everest Base Camp Alasdair kept a video diary of everything from the route to the lodges and food. Get an insight into this amazing adventure and see first hand the highs of this incredible trek deep into the heart of the Himalayas.

Trip Route Overview

I borrowed one of our very experienced adventure sales consultants, Vanessa, to grill her on the different routes to Everest Base Camp as well as all the other trips in the area and around Nepal.

Get fit for Everest Base Camp

There's no getting away from it, the classic Everest Base Camp Trek is a Grade 7. It's not a walk in the park so you do need to be fit. In this video I spoke to Rachel, one of our Adventure Travel Consultants, on preparing for the challenge.

Boots and Bags for Base Camp

Boots and bags are possibly the two most important items of kit for any long distance trekking holiday. So, in order to find out what's best for the Everest Base Camp trek, I caught up with Kerrie from our Ops department.

Altitude Sickness on the Everest Base Camp trek

Not to be feared, but to be respected - altitude sickness is a bit of an unknown, but what is it, can it affect me along the Everest Base Camp trek and how can I prepare for it? I talked with our KE Operations Manager Tim to find out more.

KE's Hints and Tips

As well as 30+ years of trekking experience to Everest Base Camp, we have many staff members who have done the trek themselves. Just before my trip I gathered a few of them together and asked them if they had any handy tips to share, as well as any particular highlights.
