When you book a KE holiday, you have the option of a free KE trek bag, a free gift or to ask KE to donate £10 to The Juniper Trust. This means that thanks to our clients, since January 2018 this has raised £3,500 towards the £7,500 needed to rebuild one of the schools. Read on to find out more about what you've helped build.

Since 1994, we've been working with a partner charity called The Juniper Trust. If you didn't know already, The Juniper Trust is an organisation dedicated to working in low-impact, sustainable ways to support communities that need it in many parts of the developing world, particularly in Nepal, a place close to KE's heart. As a non-profit, 100% of donations given to the Juniper Trust go directly into projects.  

The good work continues. With the help of KE client contributions and other sources, 3 more primary schools are to be completed by the Autumn. 

The success of JT’s school rebuilding programme goes from strength to strength as work begins to rebuild three more primary schools in Nepal, in villages devastated in the earthquake of 2015. The schools, in the remote villages of Siruwa, Saraswati and Namuna, each have around 50 students who still have been forced to use temporary shelters for their education, over two years since the earthquake. The cost to rebuild each school is approx. £7,500 with an additional £1,500 per school for uniforms and equipment, a fundraising target of £27,000. 

Situated in the remote villages in the foothills of the Mountain Everest Region, where Juniper Trust has already built several schools since the earthquake, it is over a four hour walk from the nearest road head. Juniper Trust plans to rebuild each school with new classrooms, furniture and provide new uniforms and equipment for all of the children. Work began in March and is due to be completed by November 2018.
