As soon as we have received your deposit payment and your booking is confirmed you are good to go. Simply book the flights which best suit you and you are free to arrive at any time on arrival day and depart any time on departure day.

Each self-guided holiday comes with comprehensive route notes and a map or guide book of the area you are exploring. The route notes contain information about the places you will visit, transport to and from the walks as required and the directions for your walk or cycle ride. We even include some tips for the best places to stop for lunch.

You can expect to receive your Self-Guided Pack and all your relevant documents 3-4 weeks before your holiday start date. This will be sent to the lead passenger on the booking so please remind them to pack it before you set off.

Should your self-guided trip be part of a longer adventure requiring you to leave home more than three weeks before your holiday start date, please inform our sales team as early as possible so that we can make alternative delivery arrangements.  We would normally arrange for your self-guided pack to be posted to you so it is always ideal to leave time for this to arrive.

For customers outside the UK we aim to send your self-guided pack a little earlier to allow for any delays at customs and send you a tracking number so that you can see how your delivery is progressing.

All of our self-guided holidays are sold on a land only basis, with the majority of tours starting at your first hotel. This allows you the freedom to arrive at any time during the arrival day and take advantage of the most suitable flights for you from your local airport.

We can also offer private transfers on many of our trips, simply ask our sales team for a quotation. For some of our trips, airport transfers are included, please check the holiday details for the trip-specific inclusions.

You will receive luggage tags with your Self-Guided pack and you will need to place this on your suitcase or trek bag.

Each morning you will need to leave your luggage in the reception of your overnight accommodation and let the receptionist know that someone will be coming to collect it.

A driver will come and collect your luggage and transport it to your next hotel in preparation for your arrival. 

Your luggage should be delivered to your next accommodation in the afternoon, once they have collected all the bags for the day. 

You simply need to ask for your luggage on arrival at your hotel.  It may already be in your room for you.

Luggage transfers are undertaken by a trusted supplier for peace of mind.

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee the weather for you and no destination is immune to the rain.

The great thing about a self-guided trip is that if you are more of a fair weather walker /cyclist and would prefer to do a spot of sightseeing somewhere dry, on most of our trips you don’t have to undertake your walk/cycle ride that day. This is easy if you are on a centre-based holiday, however, if you are on a hotel to hotel trip then you may need to arrange a taxi to your next hotel or catch the local bus. The reception team at your hotel will be able to assist with information on the best way to get to your next location.

Most of our trips will have mobile coverage along the way. We recommend carrying your mobile phone with you whilst out and about, not just for taking those important holiday snaps, but in case of any emergencies. Please ensure you check with your mobile provider that your phone is usable abroad before leaving home.

Our customer sales and support team will arrange your bike hire for you based on the height measurements you supply at the time of making your booking.  Depending on which cycling trip you have booked will depend on whether your bike will be delivered to you at your first hotel or whether you will need to collect your bike from our local supplier. Details will be confirmed to you in your Self-Guided pack which you will receive prior to departure.

This completely depends on the area which you are visiting. National routes such as the Tour du Mont Blanc or the many Caminos are regularly maintained and waymarked.  However this not the case for all routes.  Fear not, one of the many advantages of going on a self-guided holiday is the detailed route notes we provide you, making it easy to navigate even in areas with less waymarks to follow.

For some of our holidays we can also provide GPX route files.  Once you have booked simply contact our Customer Sales and Support Team and they will be happy to share these with you if available.
