Website and IT Assistant

The Company and Team

KE Adventure Travel has been operating active adventure holidays throughout the world since the mid-80s, and has grown to be one of the most respected adventure tour operators in the UK, and a market leader in this sector. The office is in beautiful Keswick in the Northern Lake District.

Role Summary

This is a new, entry-level role, assisting with our website and other IT projects. Initially, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the KE website and underlying systems, and provide support and assistance to the wider KE team on these systems. You will also be involved in ongoing development of the KE website, with a key role in testing new functionality and disseminating relevant information to the whole company. Over time, there will be opportunity to participate in a wide range of IT projects.


Reporting to:

IT and Systems Development Manager


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support for all KE staff members on our website-related systems.

  • Answer questions, investigate issues and escalate to our website developers where necessary.

  • Liaise with website developers to ensure issues and questions are resolved successfully and promptly.

  • Participate in the ongoing development of the KE website and underlying technology.

  • Take a significant role in testing and ensuring high quality of new website functionality before deployment.

  • Work with the web team to further develop internal knowledge sharing processes and tools, allowing all KE staff to make best use of our website technology stack.

  • Assist with any other tasks as required, either within the web or IT teams, or other areas of the business.

  • Provide help and support to our sister companies Mickledore Travel, Active on Holiday and Freewheel Holidays on an ad hoc basis, as required.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Maths and English GCSE, ideally with further education to A-level, equivalent or beyond.

  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people from all backgrounds & walks of life

  • Digitally literate and quick to pick up new systems and processes

  • Keen to learn with a desire to develop in the role

  • Familiarity with Microsoft technology: Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word.

  • Fun, friendly and caring with lots of positive energy

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

  • IT-related qualifications or professional experience will be advantageous, but not essential.


Working Hours and Location

We are ideally recruiting for a full-time role (37.5hrs), but will consider applications from those wishing to work slightly reduced hours, or with non-standard hours. Standard hours are 09:00 to 17:30 (Mon to Thu) and 09:00 to 17:00 (Fri).

Our technology allows all staff to work from home if advantageous to the business and employee, with the balance of home and office working varying depending on role and business needs at any given time. Initially, this role will be based predominantly in our office in Keswick, Cumbria.

Being flexible is key. We are a relatively small team and it’s a seasonal business, so all team members must be willing to help/support other roles or parts of the business at any time.
