The Roman Theatre

The Roman Theatre in Petra was originally built by the Nabataeans. The auditorium and orchestra area were cut out of rock and the stage was built separately. Originally designed to seat around 3000 people in 45 rows, it was later enlarged by the the Romans to hold around 8500 people.
