Challenging and rewarding trip!
Victoria Falls to Cape Town

Cycling and camping in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa was an immersive experience. You really get to absorb the environment and get a strong introduction to the culture and day to day life.

Excellent trip but be aware
Walking South Africa
Our expectations were met fully. We saw lots of wildlife, the walks were good, we learned a lot about the flora, fauna, history and politics of South Africa. It was a good mix of walking and game viewing. All in all, an excellent trip. I recommend it.
Two caveats though. First, we travelled in July which is midwinter in SA. When the sun was out then T-shirt, shorts and lots of water when walking were appropriate. But when the sun went down it was bitterly cold and South African homes and
accommodation are designed and built for hot weather. We bought insulated jackets on the third day otherwise we'd have had a miserable time.
Second, although KE classifies the trip as "leisurely", some of the walks are described by KEs local partner as "challenging". They were within our capabilities, but don't expect a stroll in the park.

4000m Peaks of Morocco

We stayed in some breath taking camping spots, ate amazing food, learnt about the lives of the local villagers and climbed awe inspiring peaks. This is a trip that will last with me a lifetime.

Magical mountains & Berber Culture
4000m Peaks of Morocco
This was a truly magical experience. Being lead through the mountains and quaint Berber villages, Lahcen our guide, was able to explain the way of life here. Although the distances seemed short, the walking was challenging with uneven terrain and big ascents and descents each day. I thought the days walking had been planned perfectly, having afternoons to relax in camp after a few long days. Simple camping in remote hidden locations, always excited to see where camp was set up the next eveni ng. Lahcen was always happy to answer our questions about the area, both fun and professional and very caring when help was needed. Meals were always freshly prepared by the chef, and very tasty with fresh bread and plenty of tea.
Our trip was in July, and I only slept with a sleeping bag on 2 occasions, as it was still very warm in the evenings. I could have taken a lot less clothes as we could wash them through and they'd be dry by the morning. Also less warm clothes, but gloves for Mt Toubkal would have been great! The sleeping mat was very comfortable, and a thermarest was not necessary. But I'd say trekking poles are a must.
A couple of highlights; swimming in Lake Ifni, freshly squeezed orange juice along the way and watching the mountains illuminate as the sun rose after an early morning start.
I'd recommend this trek for anyone who wants to escape a busy life, and enjoy being cut off from the world and immersed in a cultural walking experience, enjoying the simple things in life. Lahcen and the team, made this trek magical, and when at times the challenge of making the 4000 peaks seemed too daunting, encouragement and a hand were always available!

Picos de Europa
Traverse of the Picos de Europa

Professional in every way and a lot of credit must go to the guide who went above and beyond for his clients. Having been on several guided trips with other providers I have never come across a guide who was as professional and friendly as Bruno. Please make sure you keep this rare guide for future trips to the Picos as he is a gem.

Amazing Svalbard
Svalbard Hike and Sail
Amazing trip. Lovely boat and the crew were so helpful and friendly. The itinerary given is only a guide as Phil, our excellent tour leader, did his best to find calm water and decent weather. The scenery is something else and the wildlife amazing even if we didn't see any polar bears. We did see reindeer, walruses, a pod of beluga whales, bearded seal, tens of thousands of little auks, barnacle geese, fulmars, glaucous gulls and artic foxes. 32 guests on the boat, 8 of whom went ski-ing me ant that we only required 3 zodiac's to land the walkers which split into 2 groups depending on walking speed. First time using snow shoes but the guides judged the pace well and we saw some amazing views. The cabins are not large but the porthole was a nice to have so we could watch the icebergs at sea level scrape past the boat. There is an opportunity to do a polar plunge just off the pack ice if you like swimming in 1.5C water. I am not surprised this trip is fully booked for next year and we feel very lucky to been able to do it.

We had such an amazing experience
The Great Southern African Lodge Safari
We had such an amazing experience with our guides, Kalunga and Farai. What friendly, fun and enthusiastic people they were! They were also excellent cooks and I loved the tasty and varied meals they made for us. The itinerary is full, varied and interesting and I really enjoyed the game drives, the boat cruises, the walks in the sand dunes, quad biking and sandboarding in the dunes near Swakopmund, camping in the Ogavango Delta and the standard of the lodges were exceptional and varied. Most had pools but we didn't have time to go in them because some of the journeys are very long. One tip is to have a plan where you rotate seats as the back 4 seats aren't as comfortable as the others. Also when we did game drives it's not as good viewing in the back. Note: it says the bus has roof hatches for excellent open views but we weren't allowed to open these due to safari park restrictions. In Namibia you can't use US dollars. You have to change money into Namibian dollars. There are money changers but you get a better rate at an ATM. You can change Sterling at the moneychangers. We found changing one big amount rather than lots of small amounts worked out cheaper. Contactless payments are widely used and we used our credit/debit cards to pay for meals, supermarket purchases, trips, etc. On the optional game drive in Chobe, Botswana the Internet was poor so they only accepted US dollars. Also take small denominations - $100 notes were not welcome. The visa situation is very confusing. We bought a Kaza Univisa at Victoria Falls airport on arrival. It cost $50. This allowed us to go back and forth from Zimbabwe to Zambia to see both sides of the falls. However, once you come out of these 2 countries (ie go to Botswana and Namibia) it ceases to be valid. Upon our return into Zimbabwe we had to buy a single entry visa to get us back in. This cost $55. We got this because our flight was from Victoria Falls. We did consider getting a double entry visa for $70 but as we were making more than 2 entries into Zimbabwe I don't think it would suffice. This was what our guides thought too. Perhaps if you don't go from Zambia to Zimbabwe on the free day (to see both sides of the falls) it might suffice because one entry is into Zimbabwe when you land and you don't enter Zimbabwe again until you fly home?
Water to Go bottles were very useful. There are many supermarket stops where you can get snacks, etc. We bought beer and wine at these stops too and the prices were good. The wine in the restaurants was very reasonably priced and nice! I enjoyed the food that our guides prepared for us. It was very varied and healthy. The quality and great variety of the lodges were excellent. Each one was unique and special. A head torch is essential. In the Ogavango Delta we were allowed to take one of our holdalls between the two of us, the other stayed back in the bus. I can highly recommend this trip! It certainly lived up to our expectations and the quality of the lodges exceeded them.

The Complete GR20
GR20 Corsica - The Complete Route
This is the 3rd holiday I've taken with KE, and all trips have been superb.

Alizee was amazing! She really did go out of her way to ensure that we all had the best possible experience. e.g. she offered us several small, optional, detours from the main, advertised route to experience something special, like the summit of Monte Cinto, other summits, a lovely waterfall where we could swim in the pool below, a bergerie that sold freshly made local delicacies such as goats cheese
donuts etc. She was at all times really enthusiastic about the trip, and she was keen to share her excellent local knowledge of the area, including the flora and fauna.

Facilities and cleanliness of the various camp sites was mixed. KE obviously have no control over the National Park camp sites, and in most of the remote places, these were the only available option. Where a choice of campsites was available, I believe that the best ones were chosen for us e.g. Crocci, which was fabulous. The decision to allocate us to tents where possible, rather than the noisy dormitories of the refuges was a good one!

Bulgaria
Trekking the Ridges & Summits of Bulgaria
We all fell in love with Bulgaria and its beautiful and spectacular Rila and Pirin mountain ranges. The hiking was varied and awesome everyday and sometimes with tough sections. What made this trip truly special and memorable was our mountain guide Maya. She was so friendly and enthusiastic and really supportive. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was super organised and very knowledgeable about the geography, flora and fauna, and the history and culture of Bulgaria. It was a joy and a p leasure spending the week with Maya. A big thank you from us all - Poppy, Tilly, Barney and Dave

Magnificent experience
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
My partner and I were the sole trekkers on the week long Toukbal trek, we were greeted by our young guide Houbs.
We then headed for the High Atlas, throughout the trek Houbs and his colleagues (cook and muleteer) were exemplary, Houbs was particularly knowledgeable, supportive and funny. This helped make our experience a very memorable one. The trek itself was tough but much as we expected. My partner suffered with altitude sickness but still managed to reach the summit.
Just one
change I would suggest is to try and reduce the final trekking day, we spent around 6 hours climbing and descending Toubkal then after lunch we walked for over 6 hours to Imlil which in my opinion was slightly excessive.
But the overall experience was first class, the scenery is amazing and the people very warm and friendly.

Great trips, well organised. Tony was very organised, enthusiastic and caring. He was also good fun and I especially liked his 'secret tours of Catania'. A great mixture of walking, sightseeing and adventure.

Walking the Islands and Volcanoes of Sicily

KE office - David my point of contact, patient, knowledgeable and a lovely person to speak to.

Tony made a wonderful holiday even better. A Sicilian with local knowledge, wider interests, a caring, gentle, friendly and super guide. Many thanks Tony.

Highlight - Standing with my fellow group members on the rim of Etna, watching the gaseous eruptions from its craters and being blown away by 75kph winds!

Lovely week of cycling, eating and wine
Self-Guided Cycling in Italy - The Prosecco Tour
This was a lovely week of cycling in the Italian countryside, we really enjoyed riding through the pretty rural landscapes with the backdrop of the Tyrolean foothills, eating lots of delicious Italian food and sampling the local wines.
We changed the days around a little from the itinerary as described, to factor in the weather forecast and also the limited opening times of Villa Emo (entry included - totally worth the visit!). This worked really well, it was great to have the flexibility
to do this. The only day of cycling that was set was the day when we were transferred with our bikes to Valdobbiane for the ride from the Prosecco Hills. We were thankful for having upgraded to e-bikes for the couple of climbs on this day!
We found a great winery very close to the route on the Piave River day - the family-run Anna Spinato Winery (www.spinato.it) - here we were welcomed by Anna and had a great time sampling some of her produce! Our panniers were a little heavier with a couple of bottles of their excellent Prosecco after this visit... we didn't book in advance, but it would be worth checking out their opening times online to time your visit (we found that many places shut around lunchtime so didn't manage many other winery visits over the week).
The hotel Relais Monaco was lovely, staff were friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed the included tasting of the wines from their own vineyard! We also opted to enjoy the hotel spa one evening for a spot of relaxation.

Madeira
Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira
Everything about the trip was fabulous, from the communications prior to the trip, to the organisation of the hikes and accommodation, and the excellent guide, Nuno. This was my first hiking holiday and I couldn't have picked a better one. Our guide, Nuno, was brilliant. His experience, leadership and organisational skills were great. Being a local, his knowledge of the levadas and mountains, and the history of Madeira, was excellent. The accommodation was as expected and all hotels were cl ean and comfortable with good food and service.
