Bhutan Snowman Trek

Lots of variety in scenery and locations, and good weather
Walking Undiscovered Tenerife and Pico Teide
The trip was in early November but the weather was still mostly good - very warm in the south, cloudy in the north in Anaga, but still quite mild. We had no rain apart from a brief shower one day n Anaga. Tiede was cold and very windy at the top on our final ascent, but well worth the effort. The walk up to the refuge the day before was quite a long ascent, about 1100 m over about 6 hours, but the refuge was very well equipped and warm, so we were well prepared for the early start the next day. The Anaga National Park was very enjoyable - beautiful scenery , very varied almost subtropical forests and steep cliffs mixed with sandy coves (with swimming!). Our guide took us to some interesting family run restaurants wherever we stayed and knew some good quality, fairly quiet beaches for us. Both guides were very friendly and helpful. On the last day I and some others in the group visited the Botanical Gardens in Santa Cruz, which was a very pleasant end to the week. Overall the trip has a lot to recommend it - relaxation mixed with some challenge, and well organised.

Great activities with an excellent feel for the places we visited
Greek Island Odyssey
This was a superb mix of sailing, water activities and walking in and around some of the lesser known Cyclades islands. The cabins are compact but the experience is huge! What made the experience special was the knowledge - geographical, historical , mythological and gastronomic - of Dimitrios and his colleagues, Alex and Loukas. We went in mid October and the weather was perfect - not too hot for walking but plenty warm enough to enjoy the crystal-clear seas. A perfect way to kindle, or rekindl e, a love of Greece and its islands. What about more similar holidays? This trip is a wonderful way to kindle, or rekindle, a love of Greece and its islands. A beautiful trek up close to Kangchenjunga
Sikkim - Beneath Kangchenjunga Trek

This is a beautiful trek with splendid views of Kangchenjunga and surrounding mountains, and wonderful forests. It was very peaceful, especially in the earlier stages. Rimo's organisation was first class, the crew were very good, the food delicious (sooo many cakes!), and Uden's leadership was outstanding.

A Wonderful Walking Week
Walking Undiscovered Tenerife and Pico Teide
This is a wonderful walking week.We had a great guide in ciao,he was so friendly and enthusiastic,he really did make the holiday. The pace was good ,and even the 2 day trek on Teide is not bad for regular hillwalkers like myself. The first day in masca gorge was great ending on a nice beach for a cooling swim and boat trip back. The walks in anaga are impressive although generally more cloudy than the south. On the last day we had a change due to windy weather and climbed a lovely peak above pla ya Americas in lovely sunny weather. During the whole week we were well looked after by ciao who became a real friend. Food and accommodation was good,the best hotel was in la lagunas where the buffet breakfast was lovely. I certainly recommend this trip and tick off teide.

Success on Mera Peak
Mera Peak
Thank you KE Adventure for a great trip. Our guide Tensing Sherpa was as good as they get; competent, attentive, considerate, fun, safe, and meticulous. Our Sidar Sonam was a super guy- he took such good care of us. We learned that Sonam had been to the top of Mt Everest five times- the most accomplished mountaineer I have ever met! The other Sherpas were excellent and the porters happily did their very hard jobs and got us and all our gear up to high camp on Mera Peak. I think the trip was very well planned to maximize the probability of success. I am happy to report that this old guy (69 years), the oldest guy in our group of 12, was able to embrace my 29 year old niece, the youngest person on our trip, on the summit of Mera Peak- 6476m! Mediocre - could have been so much better
Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary
I was really excited and looking forward to going on the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary trip, however things didn't turn out to be as good as I had hoped for. The main reason for this was the performance of our leader. He started off as being very enthusiastic and engaging, but as the trip went on he withdrew and was difficult to be around. During the trip, we had an incident in which a member of the group developed hypothermia. At this point our leader basically disappeared and left it to me and the rest of the trekking group to manage and care for the casualty. The leader did reappear later on, and did as we asked him to, but he gave the impression he either didn't know how to treat hypothermia, or he didn't want to. Had it been left to him, the casualty could have developed into a very serious case. The leader also basically laughed off requests for weather forecasts, implying he didn't need them. You might recall the mass loss of life in the Annapurna region caused by Cyclone Hudhud in 2014 (at least 43 fatalities). Given this I am at a loss as to why a professional mountain guide would not get a forecast. Over the course of the trip, the leader also withdrew and became less communicative with the group, which as a real shame as I was hoping to learn about the local geology, mountains and plants etc. Although I tried discussing and asking questions, he wasn't really interested in talking, and largely just put his hands in his pockets and wandered off at the front of the group. Don't get me wrong, the Annapurna region is spectacular and worth a visit, but what could have been a really exciting and adventurous trip fell flat, and felt mediocre at best to me.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your holiday did not turn out to be as good as you hoped. The local Nepali leader who led you around the Annapurna Circuit and into the Sanctuary normally gets fantastic feedback from KE clients, as he did from some other members of your group. We have written to you separately about this but it is possible there has been some misunderstanding between you for which the guide has apologised. Regarding the incident of hyperthermia you mention, we have been contacted by the person you have referred to as the ‘casualty’ and they have told us they are very grateful for the help given to them by the trip leader at the time.

A massive sense of achievement
Everest Yeti Trail Luxury Lodge Trek
We were lucky, our flight to Lukla was only 3 hrs late (not days, as it had been ) After an easy intro, the next days is long and hard and tough, up to Namche. This is one of 3 tough days well beyond "Grade 4". But the pain is forgotten when you wake up to blue skies and snow-capped mountains. You'll walk up the view point above Namche - and there is Everest and all the other peaks. Thence to Thame, where we were lucky to have snow. It made the trek up to Kongde very hard (10 hrs) , but was beautiful. AND all the pain falls away when you wake up the next morning to "the best view in Nepal." The 1600m decsent on a rocky path is the 3rd hard day. Tips The lodges are great but the bedroom unheated. Put the electric blanket on & retreat to the communal stove All the lodges provide water Have an extra water bottle to use in bed! Learn to put out your clothes before you start the shower Savour the moment!

Winter Sunshine Walking in the Jebel Sahro - Morocco

This was an excellent trip; great guide and team, great walks with 3 nicely challenging tops and varying scenery on most days. There was just 1 day that was a chore when a longish walk along 2 valleys was needed to cross from one side of the range to another. One thing to be careful of; the altitude gains and losses in the trip notes are wrong for several days! I hope the bugs get fixed very soon as the errors might be putting people off a great trip!

Walking Undiscovered Tenerife and Pico Teide
Truly a magnificent trip. One which will linger long in the memory, A lovely island, full of history, mystery and culture; and a range of landscapes from the arid volcanic deserts of the south to the lush rain-forest covered with laurel trees and dotted with traditional hamlets in the north. Cao and Aaron were excellent guides and their enthusiasm, pride and love for their homeland clearly shone through. The eclectic range of accommodation added to the fun and the food tastings and restaurants c hosen serving fresh local cuisine were an added bonus. Highly recommended for those adventurous in spirit.

Wonderfully unspoilt trekking
Sikkim - Beneath Kangchenjunga Trek
There are some lengthy travelling days getting to and from Sikkim (and our drivers coped admirably with some difficult road conditions) but the prize is a wonderfully remote and scenic trek. Apart from a couple of misty days we had lovely sunny weather and although there was a frost on the tent most mornings it was never seriously cold. The northern section of the Singalila ridge, where we criss-crossed into and out of Nepal, was especially scenic, with Kangchenjunga views on one side and distan t Makalu on the other, and plenty of interesting flora along the way. The days after the Damphebir Pass involved crossing a series of ridges separating gloriously remote and unspoilt valleys with the Kabru range a prominent backdrop. All of this was made possible by a superb trek crew which operated like a well-oiled machine and the fifteen of us were kept amazingly well-fed by Santabir the cook, who conjured up marvellous treats on a daily basis. Leading the group was Uden Sherpa who not only made sure everything happened to schedule, but shared out maps, aspects of Buddhist history, and unobtrusively kept an eye on everyone's welfare. Nothing was too much trouble and he still found time to help the crew pitch the tents every day. At his suggestion the rest day was moved to Dzongri and this ensured that we were better prepared for the long Goecha La day. About half the group reached the pass after a 3am start; the rest of us were happy with viewing the impressive high mountain terrain from the second viewpoint. Either way, it felt a privilege to be there. A few tips. Take a few snacks such as cereal bars as some of the morning walks are quite long. Take a buff (or two) as protection from the cold dry air in the mornings. Quite a few of us developed dry coughs as a result - nothing too serious but something we could have done without. And take more paper hankies than you think you need because local shops don't stock such things. All in all, a wonderful trip and rightfully a KE classic.

Excellent trip, and wonderful care
Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira
The whole trip ran very smoothly, and we were extremely lucky with the group we joined, with whom we got on with extremely well, and certainly luckily with the excellent guide, who for first class. My wife tripped near the end of one of the day's walk and broke her wrist. But, the guide handled the incident extremely well with first aid and then organised the rush over to the hospital. There, we were met by the local company's representative and she made all the difference in making al l go well there. It went all so well that my wife stayed on to the end of the trip, albeit relaxing! By the way, make sure that you take your European medical card if eligible - as soon as the hospital saw ours there were no difficulties with getting treatment promptly. Despite all of that, we plan to be back to Madeira with KE! It is a beautiful and fascinating place, and we got to some very special places.

Adventures from the highest peaks to the lowest valleys
The Ultimate Everest Trek
From start to finish our adventure of a lifetime was well organised and supported. We felt safe at all times even on the high wire bridges! The trip offers so much more than just a trek through the mountains, you learn the local culture, make new friends, experience a different lifestyle while waking up to breathtaking views everyday. You do need to be fit to take this trip as it is challenging, some of the climbs will push you to the limit. Tips - take some hand warmers, lots of snacks (cereal bars), buy chocolate and toilet roll lower down the mountains as the prices rise with the climb. Take a set of lounge clothes for the evenings. Enjoy your adventure!
