Annapurna and Bandipur Luxury Lodge Trek

This was my first trek (other than the odd day trip in the Peak District) and it was a fantastic experience and I won't forget it any time soon. Qatar Airways was superb - old-fashioned charm and service. The people (staff and people we met in general) in Nepal could not have been more helpful and friendly. The luxury lodges were good as was the food. My favourite meal was in Pokhara where we had the tradition Dhal Bhat which was served on delightful brass plates/ dishes. I was served more carbohydrates than I'm used to - but that was because of the daily trekking and the body's requirements - so it's best to 'go with the flow'. We had an excellent guide - Rabi Gurung, who helped me enormously and he went the extra mile for our group to make sure that all our needs were catered for. His English was very good and he kept us entertained with his superb knowledge of the mountains, flora and fauna and delightful stories during 'happy hour'. A charming and conscientious guide who is proud of Nepal and was keen to share his knowledge. Do add an hour here and there to the daily trekking timings and the road trip from Bandipur to Kathmandu took us 6.5 hours. Overall the itinerary was good and seemed to have been carefully thought out. A superb trekking holiday with creature comforts which I would recommend to anyone.

Cracking holiday. Stretching ride in an incredible country.

Bike Jordan Dead 2 Red

Just back from an incredible 10 days in Jordan. Great scenery to cycle through, great sites to see (Petra and Wadi Rum being the obvious highlights) and a good insight into local food and people. Don't be fooled by some of the distances, the cycling is hard! The first 4 days are 98% on the roads, but cycling a mountain bike makes it harder especially on the 1500m climb for the dead sea to Karak. The last two days are 50% off-road through the desert and 50% roads. The desert bits are great, but there's a few very frustrating kms through the worst of the desert sand. All in all, a great holiday, really well run and great fun. If you like biking and haven't been to Jordan it really is a must.

Perfect experience, friendly and very professional staff

The Ultimate Everest Trek

I went on the Everest Base Camp in November 2017. I discovered KE upon a recommendation, and after a first call with one of their team member (Vanessa), I immediately got the feeling that KE was the right agency to go on this trek. Vanessa, and the whole KE staff, has always been extremely responsive to all my emails, random questions (e.g., shall I buy these shoes or these ones), made its best to give me the re-assurance I needed for this trek (i.e., I was travelling alone, and wanted to get a sense of the group and make sure I could give contact numbers to my parents so they would not worry). When I reached Kathmandu, I got easily picked up by our guide, and the whole trek has been a fantastic experience: friendly and professional staff, great experience, etc. I am confident that my next trek will be with KE, and would recommend everyone to consider KE for any trek.

Very Good

Road Cycle Tour of Toubkal

Very good. Challenging in parts, especially the penultimate day with a climb of 1500m, Magnificent scenery which offered a change every day. Generally good roads - many smooth, some rough. Basic, rustic but very good accommodation. Many excellent meals. Very helpful guide, always kept you at ease.

Spectacular Trek

Everest Yeti Trail Luxury Lodge Trek

Great upscale trek with the luxury of lodges. Views all along are outstanding, especially from Farak Ri. We first trekked to Annapurna Base Camp and added this one for a bit of luxury in the Khumbu region. Off the main path once out of Namche Bazzar which was nice with many fewer trekkers. Highly recommended.

A fun packed and challenging cycling holiday

6 days of challenging cycling with a day in Petra A cycling holiday through lovely scenary from mountains, historial sites, dessert and sea. First day of cycle was relatively relaxing and we reached the guest house then The hardest day is second day which we have to cycle up from -400m sea level to 1000m after swimming in Dead sea and cycled 60k. Lots of us managed to climb that much and the van picked the tired souls up along the way! The third day of cycling was cut short due to heavy rain and poor visibility but we were very well looked after by Anas. The fourth day was very ncie to arrive Petra abit earlier than expected. The fifth day in Petra was more of a full day hiking as I managed to do a good 22 km by climbing up and down to the monastry and see the royal tomb. The only place to drink in Petra is near the tourist information centre called the Cavebar. The sixth day of cycling was probably the hardest, as we finially went off road and the path became very sandy. Most of us went on walking for good 5-10 mins , however the route is impressive as you can see lots of beautiful rock and there were camels all around! The seventh day started off from Wadi Rum with 18k of off road sandy path then the Tarmac and road down to Aquaba. All of us appreciated how comfortable to cycle on Tarmac!

The Annapurna Sanctuary Is A Must See

I did this trek one week after the Yeti Mountain Home in the Everest region. I have been over parts of this route before (my 4th visit to the Annapurna massif) and was dreading the steps, the walk up to Ghorepani and the up and down nature of the trek. It was physically demanding, but well within the scope of any fit walker. The views from Ghorepani and in the Sanctuary are among the best I have ever seen. The lodges were OK. Our leader, Pasang, was excellent, ensuring that we were all cared for , that we had the medical assistance we needed. Tips: This is a 3 season trek, very hot for a few days, very cold in the Sanctuary. Having shorts, thin T Shirts is essential for the hot days. The walk up to Ghorepani is long and hot, many of us had energy bars to help us, plus some of us were affected by cramp, so plenty of water and rehydration salts (Diaralyte) were needed.

Brilliant trek, outstanding views, great leader - undergraded

Everest Yeti Trail Luxury Lodge Trek

The highlight was breakfast at Kongde, which should feature on everybody's bucket list. My second visit to the Khumbu, I knew what to expect, but the views just blew me away. The lodges took the edge off the cold, the food was great, ensuite facilities were a bonus. Our guide Rajendra Gurung is a wildlife and birding expert, helping us see birds that we would never have seen with any other guide. Tip: If you are interested in birds, ask for Rajendra. Such a brilliant trek, why 4 stars? The degree of difficulty in the walk up to Kongde and back down to Phakding is much harder than the trek notes suggest. The walk up includes a 50m near vertical section of fixed ropes (at 4000 m altitude !) requiring upper body strength that I did not have. The guides hauled us up. It had snowed, there was black ice in places and we were lucky that no one was ill and only I was affected by altitude and therefore slow. (I was told that a couple of days later, this section was covered in black ice and steps had to be cut by the guides.) Going down from Kongde to Phakding was on a "yak trail" with loose scree in places , occasionally exposed and affected by snow at the higher altitudes. Those of us with experience were OK on this section, but all of us fell at least once, me three times. My experience hill walking in the Lake District meant that I found this section OK, but novice trekkers might find it intimidating. After this trek I went to the Annapurna Sanctuary, which was easier. I would suggest to KE that they revisit the trek grading or be more explicit in the trek notes.

Central American Adventure

El Salvador's Eight

My recent trip climbing volcanoes in El Salvador is one I would recommend to any adventurous trekker. It is a challenge without being too difficult, some of the terrain is quite steep so a bit of scrambling is unavoidable. The volcanoes are amazing, like a moonscape up on the crater rims. The guide Joaquin is without doubt one of the best, he is friendly, knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble for him. His presence was one of the highlights of the holiday.

Our 1st trip to Nepal and a stunning experience. Raj was a great guide from the time he picked us up at the airport until the end of the tour. Pace of walking was perfect for acclimatization, weather was spectacular, mountains are without comparison. Highly recommended tour.

Excellent trip, lovely people

Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

We had a spectacular holiday in Peru which we started with this Inca trail trip. There is almost too much to say in a short review but the guides were excellent, both Adriel whose infectious enthusiasm for Inca culture (and llamas) guided us around the Sacred Valley on the first day and the incredibly knowledgeable Neptali who answered all our ridiculous questions and really properly looked after us during the trek. The team of porters and the chef were also incredible throughout. The scenery is incredibly varied and arriving at the sun gate and Machu Picchu is a breathtaking experience. We really appreciated that the trip included an extra day for exploring Machu Picchu rather than having to rush around it before our transfer back to Cusco. The slightly altered route from the “classic” trek also gave us the opportunity to see a couple of extra sites. A few things to note: This is not an easy 4 day walk. There are rocky downhill sections that are hard on the knees and I would highly recommend taking walking poles for these The hotels in both Cusco and Aguas Calientes are quite basic so don’t expect luxury after the camping We had a couple of days to acclimatise in Cusco before starting the trek and this was very helpful for the altitude The November weather was generally pleasant. We actually got sunburnt in Cusco! But it was pretty damp and cloudy on the last day of the trek, so if you’re bothered by walking in the rain earlier in the year may suit you better.

Wonderful introduction to Nepal, with views of Everest

This was my first trip to Nepal, travelling solo. It lived up to my hopes and expectations in almost every way. The 8 day trek was the highlight, sandwiched between thrilling flights to and from Lukla. We were a group of just three, which worked well for me, meaning I had a room to myself every night on trek as my travelling companions were a couple. We got our first view of Everest from the view point above Namche and later enjoyed excellent views from Tengboche, Khunde and Kangjuma. Altitude u p to 4000 metres presented no problems for any of us. After the mountain air, three days in Kathmandu (I paid for one extra night) was sufficient for me - I saw all the sites I wanted to and experienced the clamour and chaos of the city. A wonderful trip that I'll never forget.

Great trip of the full circuit

Patagonia - The Classic Paine Circuit

We have just returned from this trip which we thoroughly enjoyed. However the following observations might be helpful for anyone considering booking:- • Not every restaurant/ shop takes US dollars so you will have to rely on debit/cards. Paying in US dollar cash for meals or goods is uneconomically viable due to the poor exchange rate given. It would have been better to take more local currency or to rely solely on cards. • The trekking times given in the brochure details are way out – 8 h ours trek was 11.50 hours; they are nearly all long days. One of our group gave the guide KE’s brochure and we believe that he is to contact KE direct with suggested alterations to timings. As a note to KE – the hotel in El Calafate is unaccommodating. We had a very big rush one morning as they were not prepared to give us breakfast 15 minutes earlier. None of the breakfasts (apart from the ECO Camp) were inspiring or sufficient. We were very disappointed at our travel arrangements having to travel Manchester>Heathrow; Heathrow>Madrid; Madrid>Buenos Aires and then to El Calafate. We were told that BA did not operate a direct flight to Buenos Aires from Heathrow – this is incorrect as a BA flight was leaving Heathrow for Buenos Aires whilst we were waiting for our Madrid connection. We had queried this with KE but they said a direct flight was not possible! All of the above said – this was indeed a great holiday which was enjoyed by everyone on the trip.

We recommend that you change your money in Calafate on arrival, or use your card to withdraw it from an ATM. Trekking times are based on actual GPS tracking from guides on previous trips and you can also access the raw GPS data through the link provided at the end of each day’s description in the itinerary on our website. With your international flight, I believe there has been some misunderstanding. It is important that we book you on a ‘through ticket’ all the way to Calafate. If your travel arrangement were with two different airlines and the leg to Buenos Aires was delayed or the connecting flight to Calafate brought forward, neither airline would have any responsibility for getting you to your final destination. British Airways do not offer ‘through tickets’ to Calafate.

Beyond Memorable

Patagonia - The Classic Paine Circuit

Some of us are lucky enough to connect to a place and its people in such a way that it feels like going home. Patagonia was this for me. The beauty of the area and its people regularly moved me to tears. This is a challenging trek with rewards of awe-inspiring views everywhere...flowers, birds, mountains, lakes, icebergs, glaciers...all overlaid with the smell of pure mountain air. Picture this..after trekking 20 miles the first day, you look down on your home for the evening and see a refuge on a piece of land jutting into the water filled with icebergs. Where else in the world can you experience such beauty? Enjoy the entire experience, regardless of the weather. We were blessed with phenomenal weather but still were able to experience some of the Patagonia winds and the "normal" weather of overcast skies and some rain. All of it only added to the beauty of the experience. I hope that you are lucky enough to experience this lifetime trip with Diego and Tomas. The guides chosen for this adventure are just another example of the impeccable care that KE Adventures takes in ensuring their guests have a top notch experience. Thank you Diego, Tomas, and KE...I will come back "home" soon.
