 Travelling by Train

As part of the travel industry and our business sustainability goals, we are looking to reduce our carbon footprint in 10 years by 50%. By encouraging you to take the train wherever possible, and enjoy flight-free travels, you can join us on the route to a more sustainable future.

Reasons to take the Train

  • The environmental impact is not the only reason to travel by train. It's also an exciting way to travel, especially if it involves the Eurostar and the European rail network.
  • Counting the train journey as part of your holiday, means that it can start sooner. It's very convenient as would normally start at your local train station, potentially not far from home. You don’t have the queuing, airport stress and overpriced drinks and snacks.
  • It's a relaxing and comfortable way to travel, you generally have more space than you do on an aeroplane and it's easier to get up and walk around.
  • You can reach many of our European holidays, especially those in France, Germany and Switzerland, both guided and self-guided, completely flight free by taking the train, and arrive within the same day. Those further afield including Italy, Spain and Portugal can be reached using the overnight sleeper train, or a city stop along the way.
  • Some employees are now offering paid ‘journey days’ to empower staff to take alternative modes of transport other than flying to/from their holiday destination. Specialist organisations such as Climate Perks can help put this in place.

How can I book my tickets?

We do not currently book train tickets at KE, however, you should find everything you need to know about ticket pricing, booking, timetables and routes etc, on the Rail Europe or Trainline websites and apps.  A wealth of information about train travel around Europe, can also be found at The Man in Seat Sixty-One
