India

A destination that captivates travellers with its cocktail of sensational smells, sounds and sights, India should be at the top of all adventure travellers’ bucket lists. It is the perfect place for mountain trekking, as over 50% of the Himalayan mountains lie within its colourful borders. The region is distinguished by the intersection of three significant Asian religions—Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. What makes this area truly exceptional is the combination of awe-inspiring wilderness, ancient cultures, and profound spirituality. Crowned with snow-capped peaks that oversee expansive plains where yaks graze and crystal-clear rivers rush, offers mountain trekkers remarkable opportunities for unparalleled experiences:

Mentok Kangri

Sat in the heart of Ladakh, the Mentok Kangri Masif has three incredible summits that stand above 6000m. Conquering one of these peaks is a difficult, yet technically undemanding feat which presents a physical challenge to even very fit group members. However, as you stand atop the summit and gaze across the stunning lake lake of Tso Morari and into Tibet, you will agree that the physical strain on your body was undeniably worth it.

Kang Yatse 2

Commanding the head of the Markha Valley, the western peak of Kang Yatse stands as the perfect introductory 6000m+ peak for those wanting to hone and sharpen their skills. The journey to the base camp entails traversing the relatively obscure Lhato Valley, making it an expedition tailored for those seeking to immerse themselves in the extraordinary Ladakhi landscape in complete solitude.

Bhutan

The tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan is an undiscovered paradise, boasting numerous monasteries and fortresses (or dzongs) that have yet to be explored by typical tourists. Dramatic landscapes range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. Trekkers are treated to stunning vistas of the vast mountain range, as it stretches out into the distance and disappears into the horizon. Of all its incredible spiritual sites, possibly the country’s most iconic is the magical Tiger’s Nest Monastery that clings to the cliffside of the upper Paro valley. The path to the monastery is decorated with hundreds of colourful prayer flags that slowly dance in the cool Himalayan breeze. Often referred to as the happiest nation on Earth, travellers are greeted with open arms and encouraged to embrace the local culture. As a paradise for mountain hiking, Bhutan offers various kinds of trekking routes in the Himalaya region:

Commencing from Paro, this demanding 25-day trek encompasses the traversal of five 5000-metre passes and meanders through the 'Shangri-La' region of Lunana, regarded as one of the most secluded inhabited valleys globally.
