Tough Hiking with worthwhile Stunning Scenery and a Sense of Adventure
4000m Peaks of Morocco
I thought I was a pretty experienced hiker/trekker having covered plenty of the UK and done numerous multiple day treks around the globe. This trek was another level - more days, at a higher altitude and with big assents and descents than anything I had done before. And I LOVED it! It wasn’t a walk in the park but then shouldn’t you have to put the work in to experience spectacular and unusual landscapes, camp in stunning isolated spots and walk right through the middle of Berber Villages wh ich are cut off from the outside world only being accessed by foot, or Mule? The food was the best I have ever eaten while on a trek. It was mainly authentic Moroccan in the evenings, always freshly prepared, healthy and there always enough to go around. The lead guide Mohamed, the chef Mohammed, and the other guys were all hard working and seemed to be enjoying their time too. They always greeted the weary trekkers with a warm welcome. This was certainly a hiker’s experience. In the past I have hiked as part of a wider cultural experience. This trip was certainly different and I would have been happy to have more opportunity to experience more culture and mixing with the Berber of the mountains – this isn’t a criticism of the trek as I knew what the trip offered and the group did have a tour of one of the villages and did get some cultural experience at other times. I guess four 4000 peaks summarises well – it was about conquering peaks as much as anything. The Toubkal ascent was the least interesting part of the trip for me, and the camp we based ourselves at for this, and two other peaks, was not my favourite location. There was a hostel and numerous other groups and individuals camping. The area was littered and lacked the sense of isolation and remoteness I had experienced and relished prior to this stage. I think I had been spoiled in the preceding days as I had been blown away! Any points which seem negative are just relating to my personal preferences; the tour was very well organised and professional, without detracting from the sense of adventure. I would recommend this tour to anyone who relishes a long tough hike. It was so mush more than claiming four 4000m peaks!

Challenging, exciting and thoroughly enjoyable.
Family Teenage Toubkal Ascent, Morocco
While my daughter was disappointed there was no one her age on the holiday due to the current nervousness among holiday-makers about destinations such as Morocco, the holiday was a great success. For my family I wanted a holiday which made memories and provided new experiences. The local guide was patient and reassuring, the planning was faultless, the food excellent while the trek itself was satisfactorily challenging for the kids who came away with an enormous sense of achievement. As a single mother I was nervous about negotiating my way around Essaouira and Marrakesh and it wasn't without its challenges but incredibly rewarding all the same. I think we all grew several inches in terms of self-esteem by the end of the trip!

Exhilarating combination of top-class walking plus Inca excitement.
Choquequirao to Machu Picchu
This is a seriously good and demanding trek and, the modifications to the route over the last 12 months generally improve it, by making it a little less punishing, though it was disappointing that the walk down the side of river on the last day is not possible owing to land slips. Maybe we were lucky but our food was outstanding and Peruvian cuisine generally is of a high standard so much better than Nepal and Bhutan for example. We hadn't expected this. We voluntarily chose to eat vegetari an but the omnivores definitely ate better with no concerns about health. Only criticisms would be that the stools in the Dining Tent lacked seat backs (quite handy when you just want to relax) and that the trekking tents were quite compact.

an immensely satisfying way of spending 10 days in the high mountains of Europe
Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc
This is the only way to do the TMB, and you could not get a better guide than Chris to lead you. Apart from getting round 180k and 14k of up and down, I now know more Alpine weeds than ever. And what guide could reliably lead you to edelweiss? he even managed to conjour up a few ibex to order! Seriously, this is a reasonably tough trek but very doable even for a 65yo given enough determination. Immensely rewarding with views to die for. Chris was brilliant; would love to do another trek with him . Packed lunches were the only sub standard aspect, especially from hotel in La Fouly. Given the degree of exertion you need to supplement with lots of energy bars or equivalent to take on enough fuel for some very long days. KE should be much more specific on what should be provided and ensure sufficient calorie content. But still memorable.

Fabulous views, a hidden gem!
Secret Switzerland - Tour des Combins
Very well organised by KE as ever. The huts were wonderful and the trails quiet. This is a beautiful trek. We barely saw anyone else the whole way round. Food in the evenings was always plentiful and the picnic lunches surprisingly large. Plenty of time in the late afternoons to relax. Elaine was a fantastic guide and very responsive to the needs of the group. 4 days of great Alpine weather, 2 days of intermittent rain. Do take a world wide charger as you can charge phones/batteries in the huts the whole way round(3 pin Swiss adaptor needed). The outdoor shower at the Panossière has a view of the glacier to die for.

This was our first KE trip and exceeded our expectations
Best of the Tour du Mont Blanc
The trip was well organized and our guide was knowledgeable, experienced, and very much focused on interacting with the participants to make sure we had a good trip. The hotels were very nice and the meals much better than anticipated. For some reason, the Yeti did not have us arriving on Sunday evening but instead did not expect us until Monday morning. This was inconsistent with our confirmed plans and would not make any sense since we would have missed the start of the trip. However, they wer e able to accomodate us without problem. We did have one issue on the trail when we had to abort the day due to severe thunder and lightIng storms. It appears the office did not want to pay for transportation from the reffuge and we had to walk several hours to,a main road to catch a taxi. I think KE can do better then this in contingency plans. None the less, overall it was a great trip and definitely will consider KE for future trips.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for letting us know you found the holiday well organized with very nice hotels and meals better than expected. We apologise for any confusion on your arrival at Yeti Lodge and are pleased that the staff were able to resolve this without any problem. On the day you were trekking the Bovine Route we understand you experienced an isolated storm approximately one hour into the walk. Your group leader called to request an earlier transfer for the group and followed the best contingency option which was to descend directly to the Martigny-Champex road. We understand you were picked up within 10 minutes of reaching the road. We are pleased you had a great trip overall.

Beautiful
Across the Julian Alps to Triglav
Spectacular 2nd day traversing ridge with stunning scenery. the landscape was varied and each day offered something new and interesting. Some huts were really nice with small bunk rooms for 2 to 4 people, running water and indoor toilets. a few huts were very basic with large bunk rooms for over 30 people, pit toilet and no running water. Guides, David and Katja, looked after the group very well and always clearly explained what to expect each day. Great group of fellow trekkers. The ascent of M t Triglav was a lot of fun with incredible expansive views at the top. I do not like heights, but loved the via ferrata climb on mt Triglav and always felt very safe and secure with the cables and harness.

Outstanding trip & great experience with safety-oriented guide
Dolomites Via Ferrata

This was an exciting and "full-on" Via Ferrata experience with magnificent scenery and enjoyable but challenging (for me) Via Ferrata. The food in the huts was unexpectedly excellent. A particular positive of this trip was the highly qualified and characterful French guide, Francois, who put group safety and the wellbeing of the party members at the absolute highest end of his priority.

Gorgeous, Unique Trek
Classic Laugavegur Trail Trek
We're talking Lord of the Rings country here, with pristine green and white mountains and geothermal springs. This alone is enough to do the trek, which was of a moderate grade. Our guide, Marta, was well organized, easy-going and genuinely fun. Be prepared for crowded mountain huts where single travelers of the same sex are asked to share berths, bathrooms are outside and everyone helps with cooking and cleaning. Even in Reykjavik, the guest house involved a shared bathroom. I'm a goo d sport, but I'm subtracting one star for the price-service ratio. That said: do it! I'm a jaded trekker and the scenery is as beautiful and unique as anything else in the world...

Great guide and people
K2, Concordia and the Gondogoro La

I had a great trek with Ade, fellow trekkers and all the porter staff. My great disappointment was when Baltistan Tours produced an inflated invoice in US Dollars!!!! from the original agreed price of R40,000 and charged me $725 (R76,125) for my journey to K2 Base Camp.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review. We were sorry to hear that you were not able to continue with the group over the Gondogoro La from Concordia. It is good that you enjoyed your trek with Ade and that he was able to arrange for you to visit K2 Base camp. With regard to the price for your extra trek down the Baltoro to Askole and vehicle transfer from there to Skardu, we will investigate the discrepancy between the estimated price given to you by your leader and the actual cost and will contact you directly about this.

A fantastic trip!
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
We all had a great time in Peru trekking the Inca Trail. Peru is an amazing place and the people incredibly friendly. Cusco is a lovely base to start your holiday and allows you to acclimatise yourself to the altitude. The track was fantastic and the guide and potters were incredibly friendly. The trek may be slightly longer than many you will see advertised but it allows you to fully appreciate Machu Picchu and you don't have any 3.30am starts. KE Adventure were great to deal with from the very first enquiry I made and I would defiantly use them again.

Fantastic Holiday
Botswana Wildside Lodge Safari

Fantastic holiday. the guides were great, the safaris excellent (we saw a leopard each day for four days and a litter of hunting dogs amongst other things). Victoria falls is amazing. Botswana is beautiful and the people are so friendly. we went in July and it was very cold some mornings so take fleeces/jacket/hat and gloves. The schedule is non stop so if you don't like getting up early each morning then think again- the latest start we had was 7.30 except for the last day when we opted for an optional start of 7 am for the white water rafting. White water rafting was superb but there is a fairly punishing walk down to and from the gorge. The guides Chris and Valentine were superb and really added to the trip. generally an excellent trip- we will be back!

Stok Kangri & the Markha Valley - Private Churcher

Really well organised trip, everything ran very smoothly. Our trekking crew were amazing, always smiling and working hard to give a great all round service. We had nothing to think about apart from the walking. Food was excellent ,with good variety, no one was ill and we did eat the salads. The altitude makes the trip harder but the scenery is worth it. The guiding up the peak was just right with excellent safety and use of rope when needed.

An Excellent, Beautiful, Fun Challenge - Not For the Faint Hearted!
Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc

We (Father and Daughter team) have just returned from the first UTM trip for 2016 and cannot stop talking about it! We had an outstanding 10 days in the Alps and highly recomend this trip to all who love beautiful scenery, a mixture of accommodation styles and and varied, long walking days. There were so many highlights; in particular some charming refuge experiences (the setting of Cabane D'Orny is magical), outstanding viewpoints such as the Fenetre d'Arpette, the Grand Col Ferret and the Iron Cross above the Col de Balme and high quality facilities at Yeti Lodge, such as a sauna and jacuzzi for a well-deserved relax! We could not have asked for a more caring, organised, knowledgable guide, Chris Pound, who also shared with us his wonderful sense of humour and love for M&Ms! We mostly experienced blissful sunshine although there were large amounts of snow to walk through on certain higher paths (unexpected in July!) so poles were extremely useful. We also advise taking plentiful Swiss Francs and extra snacks to compliment the provided packed lunch. Although the UTM is tough - it requires a high level of fitness for the long days and steep ascents/descents - it gave us a huge sense of achievement and we loved every single day. We agreed that it has been our favourite walking holiday for years (and we have experienced many excellent ones between us!). All that is left to say is a massive thank you to our lovely group, our amazing guide and all of the KE staff. So what are you waiting for? Time to take on the UTM challenge!
