An incredible experience
Jordan's Dana to Petra Trek
Everything went very smoothly. It was fun and exciting and I felt safe and taken care of the whole time. This was such an incredible experience. The physical challenge, the beauty, the history, the wonderful food and even more wonderful and warm people of Jordan -- I couldn't imagine a better trekking holiday. Even roughing it at the camp grounds was fun, though the toilet situation was definitely a new one for me haha. Very grateful I took this trip with KE.

Murad was such
a wonderful guide. He was so so knowledgeable, patient, funny, helpful. I can't imagine doing this trek with anyone else. He made this an unforgettable experience, and it was clear he cares deeply for Jordan, for the environment, and for people.

A varied and beautiful trek - with a fantastic guide
Gosainkund and Langtang Trek
This was our first trek in Nepal, and will certainly not be our last! The route was very varied, with the first part climbing through terraces and forests towards the ever-present mountains south of Langtang. Thanks to the well-planned route and steady ascent, there were no problems with altitude going over the Laurebina La - and the long descent into the more Tibetan region of the Lantang valley gives fantastic views. The climb up by the Langtang Kola is different again, and the upper valley ar ound Tianjin Gompa is stunning. Do try to climb up Tserko Ri if the weather and fitness permit - the views are stunning!

The trek was made especially enjoyable because of the fantastic leadership of our guide Raja - knowledgeable, incredibly helpful but also just great company - and the team of porters and assistant guides. Overall an excellent introduction to trekking in Nepal, and a lot quieter than some of the more famous routes (from what we understand).

Great 12 day trek close to Kathmandu
Gosainkund and Langtang Trek
A varied and interesting 12 day trek, which was very well organised, with a friendly and supportive group of 10 trekkers. Raj is an award winning guide, who lived up to his reputation as a capable, well-informed and considerate leader, ably supported by assistants Singhi and Bhupal, and the amazing team of six porters. The optional ascent of Tsergo Ri was a highlight for me, with stunning panoramic views at the summit, and my first time using crampons, needed due to the ice and snow underfoot in the higher sections. But there were plenty of other moments of awe and wonder in this highly engaging mountain environment. The food on the trek was vegetarian, tasty and plentiful - this would also be a good trek, food wise, for vegans. Some of the tea houses are basic, as described, so be prepared to go without hot water for a few days at a time, and to share squat toilets with the rest of the group - good for the leg muscles, but not always the nose. The hotel in Kathmandu was very comfortable, especially so at the end of the trek. There’s not a lot of spare time in Kathmandu unless you add on days at the beginning or end. Most of us had been trekking in Nepal before and most were also envisioning future trips, so this trip is a great addition to anyone’s Himalayan experience.

Completely fabulous
Heritage Trails of Rajasthan
Every aspect of the holiday was planned and delivered with efficiency and care. We could not have asked for a better guide than Ketan. He looked after us impeccably, seemed to have a calm authority where ever we went and was engaging, sociable and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with him and also trusted him completely. There are so many varied and memorable aspects to this trip. Whoever created the itinerary and then planned every experience, did an outstanding job. We saw and did so much in just two weeks. It was completely fabulous.

Enthralling trip to a wonderful country
Oman Adventure Trekking
This relatively short trip provided a myriad of experiences from a jaw dropping Mosque to fabulous wild walking to amazing isolated campsites to sensational swimming spots. Muscat is a fascinating city and the newly constructed Mosque is one of the world’s great religious buildings. I’ll never look at a chandelier in the same way again! The walking is relatively straightforward but the second 2 day trek is quite challenging especially in the heat we experienced…..4a.m. breakfasts necessary to start walking at first light. The savage wonderful scenery more than makes up for it but hydration is a very big issue and needs to be attended to scrupulously…..minimum 4 litres per day. The campsites were absolutely fabulous and a definite highlight of the trip…..the desert camp probably the pick of a superb bunch. For me, a definite high point was the swimming with several idyllic swimming spots culminating in the last day leading through the narrow gap into a huge “cave” with waterfall….loved it. Daniel our guide was brilliant and no praise high enough for our 2 drivers……you’d go a long way to get better off road driving experiences. Guide and driver also dealt with camping/cooking etc and were often on the go from 2a.m. until 10 in the evening. A point to bear in mind is travelling during Ramadan as we found several sites in the itinerary were closed. Also I feel consideration should be given to having an assistant guide especially if it was a large group. All in all this was a fabulous trip and highly recommended.

Everest Basecamp Trek
Everest Base Camp Trek

Trek was well organised, friendly and helpful KE staff at the head office and the itinerary was spot on. Milan was a charming amd professional leader. Paramount to him was the welfare of the group ensuring at all times we were ok. His knowledge of the mountains was second to none. Milan was also mindful of the wellbeing of the assistants that carried our luggage and the other guides who accompanied us. Milan was First Class.

Beautiful views throughout the trip
Gosainkund and Langtang Trek

Rajendra and his team were fantastic. They all bent over backwards to look after us and ensure we all had a great trip. A good level of fitness is needed for this trip as the gradients are fairly steep with lots of steps up and down. The food is fresh and plentiful but very carb heavy so snacks from home are a welcome addition.

The Ultimate Everest Trek
The Ultimate Everest Trek
The Ultimate Everest Trek lived up to all my expectations. Good communications beforehand, transfers, local guides, hotels and (most lodges) plus food were all very good. Scenery was spectacular of course and did not disappoint. Trip of a lifetime. Everest is a sight to behold, but to be fair, there are so many other mountains I never heard of that were awesome too, the passes, the trails, the eagles, birds of prey, the blue skies (amazing), the peace and tranquility, it simply has everything fo r me.

Fabulous!
Self-Guided Walking in Catalonia
This has been such a fabulous self-guided walking trip. We’ve done a few such trips - all good - but this one in Cataluña has been the best of all of them.

1. For us, walking from our hotel in the morning to the next night’s hotel, every day and without any transfers whatsoever, was a real strength of this trip. It felt like a constant walking journey spread over a week of walking rather than a series of day walks.

/> 2. The part of France in question - La Côte Vermeille - is so beautiful. Collioure is a fabulous little town (I wish we’d booked an extra night there). It’s so pretty. Incidentally, the circular walk from Collioure on Day 1 is worth doing, if you have time, ie if you arrive in Collioure in time. Note though that our room in the hotel was not ready until 2pm, so we couldn’t start the circular walk until after that. No hardship - we sat and ate waffles and drank coffee in the beautiful harbour.

3. Crossing over into Spain, and the Costa Brava was fantastic … as is often the case, the scenery “knows” there’s a border, and it subtly changes.

4. The walking was fantastic. Wherever there was a choice of a mountain route or a coastal route for the day, we chose the mountain route, and overall I’d say that made it fairly graded as a “5” on KE’s difficulty scale. The walking was a mixture of different types of trail, from asphalt at one end of the spectrum to scrambling at the other, with everything in-between. However, the sections on asphalt were beautiful and very, very quiet, and the scrambling was never tricky enough to cause any problems whatsoever for someone without scrambling experience.

5. We got a bit of a “surprise” with the last proper day’s hike from La Port de La Selva to Cadaqués. It’s the longest day distance-wise, and we thought it would therefore be across easier terrain, but it was actually on some quite hard going (rocky) terrain at times. Note that although the navigation app for the trip states that there is nowhere to get a drink or food en-route on this day, there is in fact a great little bar at the lighthouse that serves coffee, cold drinks and sandwiches.

6. We didn’t bother using the trip notes for navigation whatsoever, and instead used the provided app (“Roadbook For Discovery”). The app worked perfectly well, and meant that we could enjoy the walking without having to constantly refer to route notes. I also uploaded the GPX files provided by KE to OutdoorActive in case the Roadbook app proved not to be any good, but I never needed to resort to using OutdoorActive - Roadbook worked perfectly well.

7. Food-wise, this trip was great! We had some amazing tapas and meals, and with a couple of exceptions where the hotel breakfasts were a bit “average”, the breakfasts were fabulous (despite being half Spanish myself, I have to admit the breakfasts were generally better in France than in Spain).

8. In terms of eating out, I’d recommend the following where we had terrific meals, coffees, cakes, etc:

Collioure: L’Ambiance
Chez Simone
La Cafetière Catalan
Banyuls-Sur-Mer: Le Corsaire
Cerbere: La Coba
Llanca: El Floc (doesn’t take bookings)
El Port de la Selva: Can Pepitu
Cadaques: Es.Fornet.
Blau Bar

9. The accommodation was good (pains me to say it was fantastic in France; good but not as good in Spain). Special mention goes to La Close St Andre in Banyuls-sur-mer which was fantastically rustic with a slightly unpolished charm and a fabulous breakfast. At the Hotel La Vigie in Cerbere, we paid a supplement at reception to get a room with a balcony. Given the fabulous view, and having seen a room without a balcony that we were initially booked in, it was well, well worth the €55 extra.

10. Even in mid-April, it was getting hot in the mountains. Often, it was dead-calm even high up in the mountains. BUT the wind is notorious (it even has a name that escapes me), and when it does blow, OMG it is amazingly strong. Make sure you pack a wind-proof jacket!

Top quality
Everest Base Camp Trek
The service provided on the holiday was top quality - and clearly better than the customers of other operators received. Hotels - were fine and appeared to be pretty much the best circumstances permitted. The very highest altitude stops were very basic - no-one could describe themselves as very satisfied by them. Food - a lot of menus were limited but the service was always good and the quality as good as could be expected. Milan was rigorous re pre dinner sanitising. It felt a lot to start with but no one had any food related infection on the party. Transport - met at the airport well. The transfer to the regional airport outwards was tough only a few hours after arriving but added to the holiday insight / experience. Strong leadership got us through airports quickly. Itinerary - the variations on the route on the way back from EBC were particularly good especially the trek to Namche via Phortse. I think this is the best single walk I’ve ever done for views. Pre trip information - re the flight variation was good and clear. The tour leader Milan made the trip. He controlled the group very well and its speed of travel.

Heritage Trails of Rajasthan
Heritage Trails of Rajasthan
The trip was so well organised - prior to the trip, by the KE office based staff and during the trip by our guide, Ketan Mehra. I phoned a number of times with queries about the trip and each occasion the office based staff were really helpful and followed up with emails on requested information.

Ketan was marvellous and went above and beyond my expectations of a tour leader. He is extremely knowleageable and is able to answer any questions put his way - well organised with the gr
oup - a great communicator with a fab sense of humour. I've waited 40years to get to India and he made the trip and the wait worthwhile.

I loved the fact that the trip not only included the well known 'tourist' spots but also going 'off piste' with well planned treks through villages seeing how people lived in a more rural setting.

Gosainkunda-Langtang Trek
Gosainkund and Langtang Trek
Great trek, quite challenging (lots of long ascents and descents) but rewarding. Very varied scenery, flora, fauna, and culture. Our guide, Raja, was excellent in all respects from professionalism, organisation, communication, sense of humour, and to care of his clients and his porter/sherpa team. The Langtang Valley, parts of which were devastated by the 2015 earthquake, was quite busy with trekkers and mule traffic in contrast to the much quieter Gosainkunda area to the south of the Lauribina La. Overall we had a fantastic holiday enhanced by our guides/porters and our fellow trekkers.

What Might Have Been....
Walking Holiday on the Captivating Cape Verde Islands
Impossible to review this trip without it being overshadowed by the disruption caused by the prior rescheduling and then cancellation of the internal flights from Fogo and then onto Sao Vicente.
We might have just been unlucky but that warning in the Trip Notes is there for a reason....
When the trip was good, it was very good but the best part of four days was ripped out of our trip during which time we did very little walking.
All part of "adventure travel" but
communication could have been much better and it really should not have been down to the Group to ask if the Balcony walk could be rescheduled so that we did not miss out on that as well.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review Simon. As you know from our correspondence at the time, we fully sympathise with the frustration you felt. You definitely were very unlucky. It is true that we warn of the possibility of delays to the internal flights in our Trip Notes. The airline that operates these flights between the islands has a limited stock of planes and even small delays can have a knock-on effect across the schedules. However, we have never known a previous incident where the flight was delayed by two full days. As you now know, the national airline (which previously only operated international flights), has stepped in to provide inter-island services and this should improve the situation going forward.

Fantastic landscape and villages
Secret Trails of the Tribal Heartland
I recently went on your trekking holiday the tribes of north vietnam

i haven't been on many organised group holidays so was a bit apprehensive.
I would like to say how KE and its agency out in Vietnam exceeded my expectations in many ways
I just wanted to see the wet ricefields and explore the villages and see the landscapes.
IT was really great, The choices of the locations was superb , they were varied, sometimes awe inspiring and despite the misty weat
her there were fantastic views.
All the homestays were really good, a great deal of care with the food, always lots to choose from.
I really congratulate the team who set up the destinations. The groundwork must have been very detailed.
Our guide T could not have been better, so many good qualities in describing and explaining everything whether it was the agriculture , the history, the different village tribes, the background to everything.
He was sensitive to our every need and when one of our party was sick he was very caring and reassuring in making some arrangements for her to rest and catch up with the group again when she felt better.
He was really good in choosing cafes along the way , making us picnic lunches and when the werather was bad, quickly adjusting the route a bit to avoid the slippery mud. I hope you will pass on this to his boss in Vietnam as he was quite outstanding.

.
I personally would like to return to some of the places we saw and stay and sketch with friend, rather than moving on each day, but ill have to organise that myself as i don't think you do custom tours ?
But I hope to join another of your treks in the future

A genuinely memorable experience
Victoria Falls to Cape Town
This trip was everything I could have hoped for in an overall experience that I think will be difficult to match. The combination of fabulous landscapes, wildlife and cycling is a potent mix making for a truly memorable time. The cycling itself was varied in both difficulty and ease, no two days being identical due to changes in conditions and surfaces. There is no doubt some was very challenging but in turn rewarding. Once in the “flow”and acclimatisation having been made each day was diffe rent and always pushing my own boundaries in a positive way. The esprit de corps was excellent and everyone pulled together as a cohesive and sociable unit.

The landscape and environment continuously changed with amazing light changes and vistas that were hard to capture simply by photography, it was an mesmerising experience. The wildlife did not disappoint, with numerous sightings and close up encounters with a wide variety of animals. It felt very natural and with a lightness of touch, seeing wild animals in their natural habitat and not feeling intrusive.

The team, Bradley,Charles and Sandeles were second to none, working tirelessly to give the group the best possible experience they could hope for. Their combined knowledge of animals and the environment was second to none and their mechanical, practical and driving skills were top notch. They were truly professional on all levels giving a huge sense of reassurance and support, as well as being great company.

I totally recommend this trip if you want to push yourself and have a genuinely memorable experience.

Camel-tastic trip, great for active kids
Camels on the Beach Family Morocco Holiday
We had a wonderful week in Morocco, in the safe and kindly hands of the lovely Mohamed, who formed an instant bond with ours boys (aged 9 and 12), and organised everything faultlessly. Highlights included the camels, extraordinarily varied and well-presented food, even when a few hours walk from civilisation, finding a scorpion at the campsite (really!), the visit to an argan oil cooperative, and surfing. The walking can be fairly strenuous for small ones when it is hot, as there is little shade , but there is a good variety of activities, with something for everyone, and lots of swimming opportunities. Food was delicious and most meals accommodated a picky 9yo (perhaps have a few cereal bars / apples on standby when camping), and when wet and windy weather threatened the night camping, Mohamed effortlessly switched the itinerary to push it back a couple of days. If I would do anything differently, it would be to avoid Ramadan, when it was clear that long days in the heat serving our needs were placing additional strain on the local crew. I recommend a couple of extra days in Marrakesh, in a riad in the old town, at the end!

A truly wonderful holiday!
Vietnam from North to South

Excellent trip and amazing experience. A very full programme which worked well. I was impressed when we could not visit the Ho Chi Minh complex as it was closed, that Nhan took us back there on the last day. Well planned itinerary and wonderful range and diversity of visits and activity. Lots of delicious food and some very comfortable hotels. Nhan took good care of us and was full of fun as well as being very informative.
