Once again: KE Rocks
High Pastures of the Picos
What more can you ask for? The hospitable Spain, spectacular vistas, long but rewarding hikes, and a wonderful guide. Accommodations on this trip were very comfortable, with excellent meals every day. The local wine did not disappoint. Our guide Rosana couldn't have been more supportive, knowledgeable, and good-natured. I would gladly trek with her again. This is not an easy holiday, with some long days and long hikes featuring significant elevation gains. But the scenery rewards the effort. Thi s was my third KE trip and each has been a five star experience. A tip: we arrived a few days early, rented a car, and visited Rioja wineries on our way to San Sebastian, which was a great city to spend a few days (with first class restaurants for the foodies). On the way back to Bilbao to start the trek we stopped at Guernica and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Great itinerary; I felt like we had a mini-vacation before we had even started our hike. Enjoy!

Beautiful Macedonia
Tastes and Trails of North Macedonia

This was my first trip with KE Adventure, and I was delighted with the week in Macedonia. Danko, our tour leader, was highly competent and responsible, choosing just the right hikes for the weather conditions. The mountains were glorious - much more so than I'd expected. And what can I say about the food?! Always plentiful, and always delicious. The people we encountered were consistently welcoming and generous. I would highly recommend this trip.

Cultural Granada to great walk and white villages
Self-Guided Walking in Las Alpujarras
Lovely relaxing trip visiting areas of Andalusia we haven't been to. Granada was excellent but recommend adding at least a day to trip for this, as by time arrive and need to leave for bus transfers there is limited time to see the sites. KE adventure booked the extra night in hotel for us. The walks were interesting and different to those we see in UK, giving insight into very different way of living. Guide notes clear, though the .gpx files were helpful, when not sure which sharp turn or track to ignore between waypoints. Each of villages we stayed in was very different, but be warned that many of restaurants weren't open in evening. This may have been time of year (Oct), but even in busy Pampaneira at the weekend, many were closed in evening. We still enjoyed the food we had each day. We travelled on public buses, which were prompt and reliable, and easy to book online. We also didn't buy any bottled water, drinking safely from local fuentes. Overall, this was a lovely experience, which we would recommend.

A new European experience
Walking the Albanian Alps

Our Albanian leader Erenik was so helpful and caring. He told us a lot about his country. Close contact with the Albanian people who were so friendly. We seemed to be immersed in a relatively new destination . It's history and culture were fascinating.

A little bit of Europe in the Indian Ocean
Reunion Island Paradise
Whilst getting there is a long haul from the UK via Mauritius, the final destination makes the travelling worth it. We arrived to see whales breaching in the sea near the airport runway and then met our guide Claire at the hotel. Claire is a local who knows the island and is an excellent leader for this trip. Whilst the distances on each day do not look on paper too long they are surprisingly hilly and in Claire's words 'efficient'. The accommodation is lovely in both hotels and refuges and the early morning ascent to get the sunrise on the highest point of the Indian Ocean on Piton des Neiges is well worth the effort. A great trip all round. Advice - Pack light for the trekking phases as you will be carrying it, walking poles are well worth brining if you use them as the paths are very stoney and uneven in places.

Superb holiday to the summit of Madeira. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira

Having travelled with KE many times i can honestly say this was up there as one of the best. A great mix of walking, climbing and being immersed in the culture of this wonderful island. Our guide Roberto was full of knowledge and enthusiasm whilst caring for our safety too. It was great to be in a group that gelled so well from day one we all became good friends by the end of the trip. The food, hotels and sea front bars were excellent. Overall a brilliant holiday!

Fantastic experience on my first trip to India.
Stok Kangri Climb
It was a great trip and most of the group reached the summit - my first 6000m peak and, by chance, it was on my 60th birthday! The crew did a great job and even made and decorated a cake for my birthday. The acclimatisation worked well in Leh and during the trek so the summit day, though tough, was manageable. The weather was mixed, with rain or snow some days, so go prepared..... There's quite a lot of free time in Leh before and after the trek - it's a pleasant place but not all that much to s ee, so go prepared for that too - book, cards etc. We played a lot of cards on out trip!

A holiday without negatives.
Mountain Trails of Lebanon
Not having been to Lebanon for twenty years I was very interested in seeing how this very interesting country would look after all that has happened there in the meantime. I wasn't disappointed in any respect. The walking was sometimes a little challenging but doable by all in the group. The "days off" were filled with visits to many historical and some modern aspects of Lebanon. Our guide Caroll and the driver Adib were an excellent team that were friendly, competent, with good local knowledge and initiative when they needed to use it. In the eight days we stayed in seven different locations thereby getting a very varied and always positive impression of the country. I couldn't but recommend booking this trip if you are interested walking and life in ancient and or Modern Lebanon.

TWO WEEKS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE
Mountain Trails of Lebanon
Sometimes a short holiday is so absorbing that you come back feel that it has lasted much longer than it actually did. And that's how I feel about this excellent trip to the Lebanon. This was more than a walking holiday, with some exceptional sightseeing to be had. I particularly enjoyed the Roman temple complex at Baalbek and the ruins at Byblos. The walking itself was not that difficult in terms of the raw statistics of ascent and distance, but hot conditions made it feel a bit more challengin g. I wouldn't disagree with the grading, but I would recommend ensuring you are as fit as you can be before setting foot on the trails. As mentioned by Jay, it would be a good idea to bring some walking snacks (preferably not prone to melting!) to supplement the lunch food. The trip was well-organised and run, with our leader (Caroll) doing an excellent job of keeping us in line. It was unfortunate that we were unable to get to the highest point in Lebanon, but that was no-one's fault (except, of course, the Lebanese Army). Caroll did a brilliant job of coming up with a workable Plan B, which was topped off by driver Adib flourishing bottles of beer as we arrived back at the bus. Caroll was always alive to the needs and wants of the group, flexing the itinerary to incorporate the (excellent) National Museum in Beirut. He kept us supplied with baklava and bazarek biscuits on the bus, ensuring that spirits never flagged. Before travelling, I was slightly apprehensive about going to the Lebanon. But the people were very friendly and I felt entirely comfortable throughout the trip. Overall, this is an excellent trip to a destination which is only just now nudging itself on to the tourist trail and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira

Second KE adventure and it did not disappoint. Some friends referred to Madeira being for 'Saga', but definitely not. Beautiful island, with amazing & tough walks. Guide Roberto, was knowledgeable, inspiring & fun to be with. Group of 10 gelled together well.

Fantastic trip
Mountain Trails of Lebanon
This was an excellent trip with great walks, fantastic food, cold beer and wine readily available and some fantastic sites to visit as well. The accommodation was a good standard too, especially some of the hotels. The travel during the trip was straightforward on a comfortable bus and the guide Caroll and driver Adib were a brilliant team. The non walking days during the trip mean that you can get a better feel for the country as well as resting weary legs. You need to have a decent level of fi tness for this trip but it's walking not trekking. For anyone concerned about the heat it's no problem in the mountains as there's a cooler breeze. With Lebanon being only a bit over 4 hours flying time from the UK I'd recommend this trip to everyone.

A brilliant road cycling holiday
Sri Lanka End to End Road Cycle Tour
This is a great road cycling holiday, the hire bikes were good quality, comfortable to ride and well maintained by our guide along the way. The ride is through a variety of landscapes from coastal to hill country, on quiet rural roads and through hectic small towns. A/K, our guide led us sensitively through the busier places and allowed us to cycle on at our own pace on the quieter roads, regrouping at junctions or on the outskirts of town. We were frequently refreshed with tea, cold drinks, fre sh fruit and snacks and cold flannels organised by Chattu, our driver. A/K and Chattu were keen for us to experience the local cuisine, purchasing a variety of spicy savouries in the local tea shops we visited, always mild by their standards, but mouth numbing by ours. By the end of the trip they realised that the brightly iced sponge cakes were more suited to our delicate palates and provided the sugar boost to get us up the next hill. The cycling was pleasantly challenging and with the early morning starts to take advantage of the cooler part of the day we often reached our destination with time for a shower and a cultural excursion before dinner.

A wonderful walking holiday and glimpse into Albania
Walking the Albanian Alps

A wonderful trip and lovely trekking. Our guide, Erenik was great. He was very well organised and looked after us so well. He introduced us to aspects of Albanian culture and was sensitive to the needs of the group. Although there were many, perhaps my highlight of the trek was walking through the forests. That will stay with me for some time.

A really good trip but with one disappointment
Mountain Trails of Lebanon
The tour guide Caroll was great, i,ve done approx 15 trips with various companies and he was the best, the scenary and mountains where great and the hospitality was good. my main reason for doing this trip was to do Mount Qurnat as-Sawda, Lebanon's highest peak. Unfortunately we could not do it because of a military exercise, the thing that annoys me is this was never mentioned as a possibility in the trip notes or your website, things happen I know but all you had to do was mention this could b e a possibility, the military have been doing exercises for decades in this area, you should mention this for your next trips to Lebanon. The reserve day Caroll put together after this disappointment was good, hard, long and rewarding, Lebanon is well worth a visit. The trip was well planned and I would definitely travel with KE again

KE Adventure reply

Thanks for your review. We understand it was disappointing not to be able to climb Mount Qurnat as-Sawda. Unfortunately, neither we nor our local agent were given any warning that the mountain would be closed on the day allocated for your climb. However, it's great that everyone has written to say how much they enjoyed the alternative arranged by your guide.

Perfect combination of trekking and sightseeing
Mountains and Marvels of Central Asia
Just back from this wonderful trip. I have read previous reviews and would like to add my 2 cents to what has been previously said. I think that KE have made a very good effort at tweaking this trip to make it much better and more logical. Trekking bit first. The trekking team were very good and professional, Sorbon (our guide) made sure we were well taken care of and actively participated in everything, The food provided was very good and I feel that the cook really made a great effort to provi de varied, nutritious breakfasts and dinners. Salads, soups and meat dishes were always provided, along with a nice variety of biscuits, nuts and dried fruits. Standards of hygiene seem to have been really improved and we noticed that all the crew took care to use hand sanitizers and wash hands often when dealing with food. We were always provided with soap and warm water to wash our hands before eating. No tummy trouble was reported during the trek in fact. We always camped near lakes or rivers so it was easy to wash stuff. Tents were of good quality though I do recommend taking an inflatable mattress to make things a bit more comfy. Toilet tent always set up too. The scenery was absolutely amazing and I have never seen such clear and multi-coloured lakes! Most of us had a quick dip to wash off the days dust and sweat, though be warned they are freezing and you won;t last more than 20-30 seconds in it before you start turning blue! Temperatures were very warm during the day but dropped considerably at night, and a good sleeping bag and jacket are certainly needed.I didn't change any money in Tajikistan, and never really needed any. Uzbekistan. Absolutely beautiful Silk Road cities. We crossed the border and headed to Samarkand, then Bukhara, then Khiva, flew to Taskhent in the evenng, had a day in Tashkent and took night flight back home. A much more logical itinerary. Our local guide was competent, had very good English and always tried her best to keep everyone happy. She even arranged for us to keep our rooms in the Tashkent hotel until we left for our flight, and that was something you will really appreciate when your flight is at 3am. Accommodation standards were good, always excellently located and always with ensuite bathrooms. Most of your group did have a bit of tummy trouble after what we think was lunch in a Samarkand restaurant, but nothng serious and everyone easily managed the rest of the trip. Long drive from Bukhara to Khiva on quite bad roads, but our driver was always careful, friendly and made sure to make it as sooth as possible. One of our highlights was when he took us to his cousin's wedding! Money-wise there are ATMs, but many places accept (clean, untorn) dollars or euros. Beer is about 2.5 euros a bottle, and good quality. Official money exchange offices are few on the ground though Tipping. We gave $30pp to the 3 donkey porters (hopefully the hard working donkeys also got an extra carrot for their troubles), $15pp to the cook, $15pp to the trek guide and $20pp to the overall Tajik guide ($80 total pp). In Uzbekistan we gave $20pp to the driver and another $20pp to the guide. Some people added something small extra for when the guide or driver went out of their way with something they needed. We felt it was a good amount and they seemed to appreciate it . A small note. In Uzbekistan we nearly always had huge 3 course meals and dessert. Most of us felt that it was a bit too much, especially lunch, and by the end of the trip most of us were skipping a lot of courses. Maybe at least lunch could be a bit shorter and lighter, would also save some time because often we stayed at restaurant for 1.5/2 hrs, when a lot of us would have rather been out sightseeing. Overall it was a really great trip and I feel that KE have done a great job with it. If anyone needs any more tips or info feel free to get in touch (adriancardona@hotmail.com)
