Tired But Very Happy
Saigon to Bangkok - Mekong Explorer
This was my 5th adventure trip with KE and like the others, excellent. Vietnam and Cambodia were excellent with all the details worked out by our excellent guides (Ho, Sokun, Nin). We just had to focus our attention on having an adventure while the guides organized everything. Cambodia was especially poignant as both our Cambodian guides lost many close family members by the Khmer Rouge atrocities. Getting this perspective was very humbling. Nin was the best guide ever and one of my highlights w as when he invited us in the evening to attend a performance of the Cambodian Circus, an acrobatic troupe of kids that he volunteers teaching. It was a magical evening. The food was great, although I got in the habit of ordering cashew chicken a few times too many. The other travelers were awesome, despite all of them being British (ha ha ha). No sickness of anyone in our group. The only downside is that the Thailand guide we had for the last couple of days was very poor and basically useless. But the Thailand portion of this trip is basically an afterthought after the many fantastic days in Vietnam and Cambodia.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your enthusiastic review of your 5th trip with us. We are are pleased you enjoyed your holiday and that your Cambodian guide, Nin, was able to involve you in such an authentic experience. We are sorry to learn of your relative disappointment with your local guide in Thailand and we will be looking into why this happened.

.. and now for something completely different!
Reunion Island Paradise
Reunion is like nowhere else I've been - but with echoes of so many other places. The trekking is steep, and although the paths are well marked, they varied from flights of irregular steps through boulder fields to mudslides. However, don't be put off! The variety of terrain, vegetation and the 'jizz' of the place more than make up for the occasional discomfort! We were unlucky that the Piton de la Fournaise chose to repel us, but sunrise on the Piton des Neiges was stunning! The food was absolutely excellent everywhere - including the communal meals in the mountain huts, washed down with a glass of the local 'dodo' or a tot of rum punch! For me, the vegetation was one of the big plus points, ranging from rain forest complete with tree ferns through montane scrub to bare volcanic slopes, but all fascinating. And at the end there's a chance to relax on the shore and remind yourself why half a day on the beach is very nice but quite enough for one holiday! When we were there (October) it was often hot and sunny first thing, but clouding over mid-morning to a pleasant walking temperature and generally brightening again later. And expect rain (though it's quite warm!)

A Triple South East Asian Delight
Saigon to Bangkok - Mekong Explorer
We had a fantastic time on this trip and certainly couldn't have done it independently in such a short space of time. Three countries, loads of sights, many experiences and lots of wonderful people.
This was my first organised tour and I was somewhat apprehensive before we went having done all my travelling independently previously. Luckily we were well looked after by our three guides, had some great travelling companions and were able to fit so much in that I wouldn't rule out
further organised trips. Probably with KE too!
Most of the accommodation was way above what I was expecting and the provided food was almost always excellent. When meals weren't provided we were steered to 'safe' places because you wouldn't want a jippy belly on this jam-packed trip. Even I managed to stay free of the dreaded Delhi belly so the guides must have done their job well in that respect as well.
All our guides were fantastic but Nin stood out in particular. Full of enthusiasm and information with an eye for where to get the best photographs we will be keeping in touch with him for sure.
The start of our holiday was ruined by Qatar Airways but everyone at KE looked after us and made sure we were still collected from the airport despite KE getting us there 22 hours late....and without our luggage.... Our guide then hassled them to get our luggage to us as soon as possible despite us being many miles from the airport by then.
After that everything was fantastic; from bike rides in the Mekong Delta to getting up to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat it was an unforgettable holiday and I'd highly recommend it.

A varied holiday with biking through Cambodian villages and temples.
Backroads of Cambodia Bike
Great biking holiday. The cycling can be a bit more demanding than the grade 2 suggests due to the heat and the possible pace of the group although the back up team always are on hand to provide the option of a lift in the support vehicle. A great itinerary providing a variety of experiences of temples, villages and landscapes including some river trips with fascinating floating villages. An excellent local guide worked very hard to look after the group. Some accommodation was a bit unsatisfacto ry but our guide was anxious to receive our feedback and clearly looking to explore future improvements.

Nepal is fabulous.
Annapurna Sanctuary and Poon Hill Trek
We've just come back from this trek and it was fantastic. We went to Nepal 16 years ago, and now can't think why we left it so long before returning. The country is poor, still recovering from a devastating earthquake, coping with fuel shortages as a result of the Indian blockade, but still smiling. We've been on treks in higher, more remote areas but never one with such varied landscapes; villages and terraces, bamboo forests, then the spectacular rock and snow of the Sanctuary i tself. We've always been lucky with our trek crew, but never had one quite like this; Dawa, Januk, Raju, Chandra, Tshering, and Mangale were efficient, helpful and just lovely. We've always enjoyed camping and were a bit uncertain about lodges, but they were great; very simple but really clean and with 'comfort toilets'! (Those of us who were ill throughout a 15 day trek on the Baltoro glacier and thought we'd never trek again, are allowed to develop an obsession with toilets.) If you're about to go on this trek - advice. It is very cold high up. Because of the fuel shortage there is no heating in the lodges. We were fine with really warm down jackets and sleeping bags, but if you don't have them, beg, borrow or steal them. (Actually, if it's a matter of stealing you may be better hiring them from KE!) Also, take metal drinks bottles then you can use them as hot water bottles. If you're thinking about going on this trek - advice. Nepal is 'open for business'. Tourism is 60% down this year. They need our money. Go!

Very well organised trek in beautiful and very quiet area of the Himalaya
In the Shadow of Nanda Devi

We thoroughly emjoyed our first trek in the Himalaya. This trip has the interest of trekking through remote villages right off the tourist track and seeing wonderful views of both the Nanda Devi range and the Panch Chuli. The team looked after us wonderfully with great food and excellent organisation.

an amazing experience!
Annapurna Sanctuary and Poon Hill Trek

This holiday was so well organized and the leader of the trek, Lhakpa rita, catered for our every need. He always made sure we had enough to eat and our rooms were suitable. He was friendly and approachable and made the trip a lot of fun. Nepal was amazing, the people friendly and the scenery stunning. Would definitely use KE again as we can't find any faults!
A metal water bottle is a good idea as it can be used as a hot water bottle on those cold evenings at the base camp

An excellent holiday that truly exposes travellers to the Best of Borneo.
The Best of Borneo and Mount Kinabalu
My family thoroughly enjoyed their two weeks in Borneo and different experiences we encountered. We saw a large variety of wildlife and the lodge accommodation was extremely good and comfortable. That we could not make the summit climb on Kinabalu did not detract from the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed all the trekking and the various boat trips and safaris.

It should be noted that the Pinnacles climb is particularly arduous - it is not a trek; but a scramble using hands an
d feet for the most of the way up and all of the way down. A good supply of high calorie snacks (from the UK) and re-hydration salts are recommended as the energy expended and water loss in the heat & high humidity is considerable on the Pinnacles.

We would have welcomed a longer stay at Sepilok and the only real disappointment was the ferry transfer from Limbang to Kota Kinabula which is a long and tedious journey; nothing 'exciting' about it at all.

In terms of kit, a small collapsible umbrella would be a good idea the rain showers can be short, sharp and heavy and an umbrella can be put up a lot more quickly than wrestling with waterproofs. All our guides had and used umbrellas.

Thank you for putting together a great holiday and experience.

Great sense of achievement completing the circuit.
Annapurna Circuit and the Thorung La

As a single traveller, I am always impressed with KE organisation of trips. There is sufficient backup to make you feel secure but without being restrictive. The circuit is a tough walk but plenty of acclimatisation made the going easier. The trek leader and crew were brilliant. It was a great sense of achievement to reach the Thorong La. The few days R & R at the end on the trek was very welcome to experience Nepal. Fantastic holiday - Thank You

The best experience of in my life
From Jiri to Namche Bazaar
A very varied trip with lots of adventure. It starts in a quiet rural part of Nepal that has been by-passed by the busier trekking routes since the development of the airport at Lukla, so you see Nepalese rural life close up - including locals doing their own reconstruction without much aid following the 2015 earthquake. Until you reach the Dudh Kosi valley and turn north, lodges are very basic but the food we had was always tasty and plentiful. Once you turn north the views of the sensationa l Dudh Kosi valley scenery, and towards the end the famous mountains - Sagmartha/Chomolungma (i.e. Everest), Lohtse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Tamserku, are brilliant! Although you never reach high altitudes on this trek, crossing the grain of the country means you climb 24,000' in 10 long days trekking. There are no flat bits. I have lost 9lbs of weight despite the good food and hearty eating - great workout!

Fantastic Experience
Annapurna Sanctuary and Poon Hill Trek
A truly fantastic experience. From the outset, everything was extremely well organised and i was always kept fully informed.
On landing at Kathmandu airport I was met by the guide Dawa who throughout the trip acted in a very professional manner. His knowledge of all aspects of the trek, from the culture, traditions, together with the technical details was exceptional. The other guides and helpers were also excellent, always helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The programme for the t
rek had been carefully worked out to ensure a gradual acclimatisation to altitude occurred. Tea Houses provided good accommodation throughout and on arrival at them, the guides inspected the rooms to ensure suitability.
This was my first trip to Nepal and also my first ever trek, hopefully not my last. KE Adventure provided an outstanding service throughout and I would strongly recommend them to anyone wishing to Trek in Nepal.

A great mix of trekking in scenic locations and cultural experiences
Oman Adventure Trekking
The trek was very well organized from the initial airport pick-up to the final return to the group hotel. We started with a walking tour in Muscat around the Sultan's palace then the main souk, and next day we visited the Grand Mosque then made a short trek in the mountains en route to the first camp. We followed that with a half-day trek along the famous balcony trail and its spectacular views of the canyon below, then a full day trek from the camp across scenic limestone hills and wadis. The next day we did a wadi walk and swam in a beautiful natural pool, then stayed in the historic town of Nizwa where we enjoyed a tour of the souk and the fort with its excellent displays and information - I learned a lot about the production of indigo dye and its historic importance in Oman.

Due to the much hotter then normal weather the guide then recommended a change to the scheduled program, so instead of a long uphill mountain trek we drove into the desert and trekked and then camped in the dunes - a fantastic experience which I recommend replaces day 1 of the Selma Plateau mountain trek in future programs. We finished the holiday with a long but mostly downhill trek from the plateau and a night of camping by the beach. The program was well organized into 2 halves each with cultural visits and increasingly longer treks followed by an easy day to recover.
The guide was very helpful and made sure everybody understood the next day's program, and also picked safe routes that matched the ability of everyone in the group during treks. She and the assistants picked good camp sites, cooked great meals and kept us amused with stories of their other treks as well as helping us understand all aspects of Oman life. The group was only 9 people and this helped us interact well and get to know each other over the 9 days we were together.

I rated the holiday as excellent because of the ideal balance between cultural visits and scenic trekking, which let me get a all-round impression of the people, history and geography of central Oman in a short time. The holiday was everything I hoped for and made perfect by the unscheduled visit to the desert where we trekked among the amazing coloured dunes at sunset and sunrise.

An Island Custom Made for Trekking
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries Priv. Sylvester
La Gomera is more remote than most other of the Canaries and thus, offered an unspoiled, natural experience amongst some very historic trails. Each day was somewhat different with significant vertical climbs and or descents on all days. Hotels were clean, simple and we ate quite well at night. Our group was fortunate to have virtually perfect weather (mid November trip) with good views although I understand that fog and mist is not uncommon at higher altitudes. The difficulty rating for this hike is appropriate.

One of the best Moroccan treks
Winter Sunshine Walking in the Jebel Sahro - Morocco
What makes KE such a good adventure holiday company is the quality of their guides and again as usual Hassan Ait Brahim was exceptional. This is a fantastic trek for someone on a first trek to Morocco or equally, like myself who has done a few trips to the 4000metre peaks of the High Atlas. Another great thing about Morocco, it's only three and a half hours away and yes your in another continent, cant be bad. One slight criticism I would have would be that the Mogador Guilez although a love ly Hotel and I would gladly stay there again, it is a 45min walk to the center of Marrakech but it's only a 20Drm (£1:20) taxi ride each way. These Moroccan trips are exceptional value for money even when you add on the flights. Can't wait for the next one, all that needs to be done is browse through the 2016/2017 brochure. Good one again KE Adventure.

This stunning short trek would be an ideal introduction to Morocco.
Peaks and Valleys of Jebel Sirwa - Morocco

Every morning a different view, each day a lovely walk - once again the Berber guide, Mohammed, and his crew looked after us royally. Nothing was too much trouble for this caring, helpful guide. A super short holiday led at a comfortable pace by a knowledgeable and professional guide. Many thanks once again.

Brilliant trekking with a good measure of cultural sites thrown in.
Singalila Ridge and Chomolhari Basecamp
Two separate treks with contrasting environments from rhododendron and bamboo forests to high ridges and snow-capped peaks. Also a contrast in countries between the hustle and bustle of India and the peacefulness and quiet of Bhutan. The trip also included visits to interesting cultural sites such as the Himalayan Mountain Institute, Tea Plantation, Monasteries and ancient dzongs.

Take a warm sleeping bag and down jacket (even in October) as it can be very cold at night, particu
larly in the deep valleys of Bhutan.

Difficult, rewarding journey
Mukot Peak
The Mukot Peak trip was way more that I could have expected. Having been on a previous KE trip in the Himalayas (Mera 2012) I though I knew what to expect; weather, temperature, physicality, and the day to day routine. But this trip took everything to new extremes. Starting out in the hot, dry, and desert like Dolpo region then climbing up to base camp which was cold and snowed on us for several days/evenings. Our group was fortunate enough to grab the summit and the very first ascent! After whi ch the walk out was much more challenging than expected. Having 3 > 5000m passes made for some difficult days, but also some spectacular views. This trip is not for the faint of heart. It will test you (everyone in our group got sick at some point), but the end result is a fantastic adventure that I will never forget.
