..a memorable winter walk on beds of volcanic lava
Walking Lanzarote - The Island of Eternal Spring
‘….underground, overground wandering free….’ The six day traverse of this truly volcanic isle was magical. The GR 131 and our experienced guide ‘Andy' led us across the vast lava fields towards, around, in and over many of the 300 dormant volcanoes. To vertiginous cliffs bearing carpets of wild flowers and prickly pear plantations (hosting Cochineal insects) and the beautiful arid Isla of Graciosa....... The journey was a delight and although centre-based brought diversity and cul ture each day.

Fabulous Arctic adventure
Inside the Arctic Circle - Skiing the Kings Trail
This trip surpassed expectations. We had a very experienced guide, Hans, who helped us all get the most out of the trip and kept us laughing. Our musher, Morgan, was also great - he guided the dogs transporting our food and extra belongings to the huts each night - plus also gave extra insights into life in the Arctic and training Huskies. The ski hire from Abisko was good quality. The skiing itself was fun - we had to deal with a variety of conditions including high winds and white out but we a ll felt confident that we'd get to our destination thanks to Hans' leadership. The food was far better than described, and importantly it was plentiful. Plus there were always a few cans of beer each evening. The flights and transfers to and from the airport were efficient and on time - the snowmobile ride down from Kebnekaise a real treat on the way back.

An amazing and memorable biking experience with superb guides
Pedal Patagonia
An amazing way to experience Patagonia. Felt like we got to know a lot about the country and the people. Every day brought different scenery and views. Challenging biking at times but Javier and Ingo were always there to help. Loved their enthusiasm and humour. And their local knowledge definitely made the trip. We fell in love with Patagonia. Lovely people, good food and accommodation and superb biking. The highlights were Conguillio National Park and Huilo Huilo Reserve. We did have heavy rain one day but Javier came up with good alternatives and was always ready to adapt the days you our needs. Thank you Patagonia for a memorable biking trip; thank you to the KE team in Keswick for all your help; and BIG BIG thank you's to Javier and Ingo.... we enjoyed your company, valued your advice and insights and loved your humour!!

a lovely week of snowshoeing in an uncrowded and very beautiful setting
Queyras Snowshoe Winter Paradise

This was a very enjoyable week of snowshoeing in a very beautiful area that I would not have otherwise traveled. Our guide, Gary, was excellent. He ensured our safety, while also ensuring that all within our group enjoyed their holiday. Our hotel, though not luxurious, was very comfortable and very clean and the meals were enjoyable. I recommend this trip to other travellers who are game for a week of invigorating winter fun.

A brilliant and diverse holiday
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife
This trip covers a large amount of Costa Rica from volcanoes and rain forests to the ocean so offers loads of opportunity to experience the stunning bio diversity that Costa Rica offers. Joe was a great guide - very informative and very proud of his country. We had the opportunity to sample lots of local delights thanks to him. The walking is fine for regular walkers although the odd section raised the heart rate. Tips - take really good mosquito repellent, a good camera, a very light waterproof /poncho - we only had a couple of days of rain but it was pretty heavy - a headtorch and pack light. You're on the move a lot because there is so much to see.

Great introduction to Nordic skiing in an idyllic location!
Italian Cross-Country Ski Short Break
If you like: beautiful mountainous scenery, fabulous snow, expert instruction in a great new activity, copious amounts of delicious Italian food - then you will love this trip! Cogne is a lovely little town in the Italian Alps and our accommodation set in a beautiful valley just 3km away. This is a wonderful location to try your hand at Nordic skiing. The scenery is stunning, the tracks well groomed and suited to all capabilities. Our instructor Tania, ably assisted by Mark, was an exceptional t rainer. She had so much experience and enthusiasm to share and also plenty of patience as we found our ski legs (with occasional sit downs in the snow!). To sum up: snow, sun, fun, great food, great company & a lot of laughing. Thanks for a great trip !

Great variety of walks, warm weather, and enthusiastic local guides
Walking Undiscovered Tenerife and Pico Teide
This holiday had a great variation of walks from the rocky Teide and Masca Gorge, to the green coastal Anaga region, and plenty of sunny warm weather. The local guides Cao and Aaron, who shared leading the walks, were very knowledgeable about the history of the island and its flora/fauna, and both had an infectious enthusiasm which was the remaining ingredient needed to make this holiday fantastic. The meals taken in local restaurants showed off the local cuisine really well, with more food than I could eat! I enjoyed the Palmetum in Santa Cruz on the final morning (although I suggest it is for people who have an interest in plants). Also the trip notes didn't say to take a swimming costume, but there were several opportunities to swim.

Fabulous country and trekking experience
Oman Adventure Trekking
Oman is a stunning country, especially for trekking. The people are very friendly, the views are amazing and, in Feb, the weather was not too hot (and not too cold at night although a good fleece/down jacket is a must). The camping opens up vast skies full of stars and the night on the beach is perfect for an evening and pre breakfast swim. Swimming along the Wadi on the last day is the perfect end to a perfect trip - bring your trek sandals. Make sure ladies bring a scarf for the mosque - one o f the drivers kindly lent me their keffiyeh but, as this was a 'man's' head covering I was not allowed in and had to buy a 'female's' headscarf at the shop. And of course, don't forget your toilet paper! Overall, a really brilliant trip. Thanks KE.

A wide variety of experience in a beautiful and friendly country
The Philippines - Highland and Island Explorer

A lot was packed into this holiday! Museums and churches in Manila, landscapes of various types including weirdly volcanic ones and spectacular rice terraces, insights into local life, fine beaches and good wildlife (tarsiers are adorable!). The people are extremely friendly. Bryan did a wonderful job of looking after the group, and showing and explaining many aspects of the Philippines - all with immense enthusiasm and humour.

Outstanding snowshoeing in stunning and varied landscapes
Snowshoeing in Canada and Yellowstone National Park
This was an excellent snowshoeing holiday with a great variety of experiences. The mountain scenery in the Canadian Rockies is extremely impressive. The geothermal phenomena at Yellowstone are extraordinary, and there are excellent opportunities to see wildlife. Many people say that Yellowstone is at its best in winter, with many fewer visitors, and with the steam from the geysers and hot springs condensing as a frosting round the trees. Jérémi was a wonderful guide who communicated his passio n for the environment and the outdoors, and worked tirelessly to give the group the best possible experience. He adapted well to quirky English senses of humour, and even gave us a quite unexpected but very welcome education in North American craft beer!

Snowshoeing in Spectacular Pyrenees, including the ascent of Montardo (2833m)
High Level Pyrenees Snowshoe Holiday
A full 5 days of snowshoeing, with the first 2 providing the chance to learn avalanche rescue techniques and to get used to walking with snowshoes. Despite little snow cover on the lower slopes at the start of the week, our guide chose routes that provided a sense of achievement without being too demanding. The following 3-day hut-to-hut expedition provided a superb adventure experience in the heart of the Pyrenees, through remote and dramatic scenery with the chance to reach the summit of Monta rdo (2833m). Staying in a mountain hut is a great experience, with excellent food and plenty of atmosphere. Snowshoeing techniques are relatively easy to acquire, but it is advisable to have a good level of hiking fitness to be able to enjoy the experience while carrying a rucksack. Compatibility among the group contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Wonderful country & fantastic hospitality. Amazing wild scenery & walking.
Oman Adventure Trekking

Amazing wild country where we enjoyed fantastic hospitality from locals & the trek crew. A range of walking from relaxing half days to strenuous extended day challenging experiences. This is a trip where a lot is crammed into a short time seeing some really interesting sights (ancient forts, mosques) & experiencing wild walking through gorges & over huge mountain vistas. Be prepared for a lot of driving too which at times can be tiring & after a while not particularly enjoyable.

Exhilarating snowshoeing - superb views
Queyras Snowshoe Winter Paradise

A plethora of full day routes exist within short drives from the accommodation situated in a quiet village. The walks are certainly more strenuous than those of 'Chablais Traverse' but completely doable for fit people. Most of the walks ended in or close to picturesque villages, all with a welcome bar or cafe. This trip would suit experienced or beginner snowshoers but some of the climbs are relentless and steep. Stamina and fitness will be required.

Awesome place to snowshoe. Great trip
Mont Blanc Snowshoe Week

Yeti Lodge is a great location, and being in Argentiere was perfect. Jo and the girls at the lodge made us feel very welcome. Our guide, Emma, was an absolute dream - she kept us safe, and adjusted the walks to fit with some very changeable conditions. Magic stuff. One of my favourite KE experiences.

Exceeded expectations
Chamonix Snowshoe Short Break
I have been on a number of climbing/trekking trips to the Alps in summer but was keen to go out in winter. As a non skier this fitted the bill superbly. The published itinerary was quite easy but our guide Mark recognised that the group were capable of more and flexed the days so that they were more challenging, Mark was an excellent guide and for a couple of days was joined by an Aspirant Tim who was also good fun. We were lucky in that we had two days where there were clear views of the mounta ins and one day when there was a lot of snow which added to the variety. Was impressed with our group hotel the Aguille de Midi in Les bossons. Really good five course dinners and comfortable surrounds.

La Gomera winter walking provided an excellent and varied programme of walks.
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries
The La Gomera winter walking week provided an excellent and varied programme of walks through rain forests, ridges, woods, terraces and coastal paths. Our guide was outstanding. Enekoiz is a local who helped us understand the history, cultural, diet and special features of the ecosystem. The hotel rooms were all good (one hotel was a little chilly but a heater was provided and lots of spare blankets.) Food was plentiful, varied and good... some restaurants better than others of course. A great w inter geta-away... good fairly challenging walking whilst a relaxed pace and stress free.
