Magnificent Monastries, interesting treks, wonderful views of Mount Ararat.
Armenia's Trekking Highlights
The Monasteries we have seen were magnificent, especially Khor Virap. Its stunning position overlooks Mount Ararat in Turkey. Geghard Monastery is in another dramatic location, carved into rocks. Due to the extremely hot weather, the trek in the Geghama Mountains was not as enjoyable as I imagined. It would be advisable to take an umbrella for sun protection, there was no shade or trees. Also suggest to take some liquid gel against dehydration and a camelback waterbag if travelling in July. Mayb e June departure would be more spectacular, as then all the wild flowers are in bloom. All in all, I am very happy that I have seen so much of Armenia.

Outstanding trekking in Fann Mountains
The Ultimate Fann Mountains Trek
This was an amazing trip to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The trip started with 11 days of trekking through the incredible Fann Mountains. The trekking is tough but achievable for anyone with a good level of fitness. The scenery was great - every pass brought a new exclamation of 'wow' from the group. The local team were super friendly and helpful and our leader Neil was everything that you would want from a leader - helpful, informative and a lot of fun. If you are after culture, the trip to S amarkand should be more than enough. The architecture is beautiful and our local guide was very informative. I would thoroughly recommend this trip!

A good cross section of the High Tatras
High Tatras Trekking - The Carpathian Mountains

This trek fully justifes its rating. The scenery is wonderful, and Hubert the leader added greatly to its enjoyment. He has a remarkable knowledge of the area and was always receptive to the mood of the group and individuals. The accomodation we stayed at was generally as good or better than I expected. All the transfers went without a hitch, even when modified. A drawback on most days was the volume of local walkers on the majority of the trails, aaaccconsequence

An amazing trek with good acclimatisation
Traverse of Bolivia's Cordillera Real
The first week in the Isla Del Sol provides some luxury and some good day walks before the trek starts. Top quality hotel in Copacabana and the Eco-lodge was perfect. Be prepared for the trek - there are some big ascents and descents. The descents - often on steep loose scree slopes - which is good if you're happy with this terrain. The views are amazing and we saw just a handful of other trekkers. Definitely worth the effort. The campsites are all different but the settings are beautiful. The t ents are very good. But it gets very cold at night. Expect -15 degrees or lower. Have the right sleeping bag and thermarest. The food is very good and plentiful. Snacks are provided every morning for morning tea. Might be worth taking water purification tablets just in case. Water is boiled but with a big group that's a lot of water that is needed every day. Local guides including cook - very good. Very knowledgable of the route - as not always on paths and some scrambling required - a rope was needed for one small part - but more for safety purposes. Various flight options. Flying via Miami with AA was ok - luggage is checked all the way through. Hotel in La Paz is in a good location and helpful staff. Take the cable car rides to see the city. Go for it - July departure - blue skies and warm sunshine during the day but once the sun goes the temperature drops - be prepared. Take a Sig bottle for a hot water bottle.

Challenging, truly exhilarating and such an adventure.
Snow Lake and the Hispar La
This is not for the faint hearted. The terrain is rough and you need to focus but so worth the effort for the spectacular mountain views. We were blessed with two glorious days when we were on Snow Lake and the Hispar La. Campsites were always scenic and despite the challenges the crew usually managed to find a flat area for each tent, even if boulders were in situ. Food was excellent and plentiful although I'm giving rice, dahl and chapattis a rest at the moment. The KKH was tiring but adventur ous with landslides blocking our route and an entertaining police escort on day 2. Good sunscreen for face and lips essential, a long skirt was great for travelling and females should take a scarf to cover their head when mixing with locals. Mark Scales was an excellent leader. Professional, calm, reassuring and sensitive to the group's needs. He also has a vital sense of humour and the patience of a saint. He looked after both us and the crew, making sure the porters were safely roped up on the Snow Lake and Hispar La days. Great mixed group that got on well.

A First Class Hiking Holiday
Across the Julian Alps to Triglav
I've just returned from a challenging but really enjoyable hiking holiday in the Julian Alps which are stunning and far less busy than similar Alpine areas further north. Climbing Triglav was awe inspiring and the views from the summit were memorable, the skies having been washed clean by a magnificent storm earlier in the week. Our small group was blessed by having Katja as our guide; always cheerful and encouraging with a lovely sense of humour. Given the earlier storms, she had to rearrange o ur itinerary from day one which she did seamlessly and without any fuss. Would thoroughly recommend this hike to anybody who fancies a spot of scrambling and ridge walking.

Tough but exhilarating
Italian Summit Climber

Delighted that we were able to do all seven 4000m. summits. I cannot praise Steve, the guide, highly enough. He was so professional in all respects - very concerned for safety but also wanting to get an old buffer like me to the tops.

The holiday of a lifetime!
Classic Tour du Mont Blanc
I loved every minute of this holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a moderately challenging adventure. The route was spectacular and the variety of terrain and scenery made it difficult to choose a favorite day--they were all glorious (even the very rainy one!). The pacing made each day very achievable. Our leader was incredibly professional and knowledgeable and set a great tone for the trip. After 12 days together, I was very sad to say goodbye to the members in the group . It could not have been a better experience. I will definitely be booking my next trip with KE Adventures! Thank you!!

Fun for all the family in the Julian Alps
Julian Alps Jamboree - Family Adventure
Mum, Dad and 8 year old son thoroughly enjoyed all the activities on offer. All the activities were of an equally high standard, including the optional rafting, which we think should be included in the full trip price. Quality of service from tour guides was exceptional - fun and knowledgeable guys (David and Ales). Every day is action-packed and can be tiring. However, the hotel pool was a great end to the day. Plenty of decent food at buffet breakfast and dinner, with something to suit most ta stes. Top tips - bring sturdy boots/trainers for walking, cycling shorts and suntan lotion! Would recommend for an adventure-seeking family.

Amazing family adventure with an amazing group in a prefect location
Family Adventures in the Algarve
This holiday was amazing, totally surpassing expectation. This was the first adventure holiday as a family but it did not disappoint. KE were great all during the planning and organising, information and booking details all great and nothing left to chance, always available when we needed to know anything. On arrival as planned we were met at the airport by the guys organising and we met some of the other people staying with us, all good and ready to go. The guys who run the accommodation and th e events were amazing! Jon and Violetta very quickly introduced us to the other people, showed us our accommodation and made us feel immediately like we were at home, in fact home is exactly how it felt and we felt like an extended part of their family. The other guys in the group felt the same and this was the case throughout the holiday as the week went on we got to know each other better and better. The accommodation was great, very clean and everything you needed for this type of holiday - including no phone signal...which in our opinion helped everyone stop looking at screens and talk..brilliant! there was wifi, but even the kids in the group realised there is more to life :) The adventures were brilliant, so well organised and done so with fun and safety as a priority. You felt at all times that you could conquer any fears you had and Jon and Max gave you the right amount of encouragement to push you over the line should you have any doubts! Every day was arranged with so much efficiency but with the feeling that you were very much on holiday and there to relax as much as you could, each journey back home was done via an ice cream or cake shop - perfect! Then there was the food.....WOW, each and every day was a culinary delight, Violleta and Katherine each day served up a delicious array of food that left everyone going back for seconds, using all the fresh ingredients from their own land. The only disappointment was when you knew that one night you went out to a local restaurant, not because the restaurant food wasn't great (it was by the way & again organised for you :)) but because you may be missing out....the final night Pizza party was great fun, and a wood fired Pizza oven is something to behold! In summary, this was a brilliant holiday organised at a perfect location by great people who want to make your holiday very special and make all the extra efforts for you and your family to make the very most of the time together. Brilliant!

Helpful team, but trekking route could be improved
Trekking in Georgia and the High Caucasus
The staff were helpful, and the food and arrangements were good. However, the trekking route could be improved, even allowing for weather problems, too much use of 4-wheel drives and walking on roads and not a proper point-to-point trek - I would suggest KE and their operator abandon the vehicles and use ponies like a lot of other operators in the region. By doing this they could get off the beaten track and explore some of the fabulous ridges and semi-abandoned villages rather than some of more touristed areas. I was also surprised on one of the days that the guide was not comfortable going into the mountains in 'low cloud' and we ended up walking on the road for the first half of the day.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review. We had to make some last-minute changes to your itinerary due to flood damaged paths which meant it was not possible for your group to cross the Tsubrovana Pass. It was necessary to use 4X4 vehicles to make some transfers and the group were alerted to this prior to departure. For future groups we expect the itinerary to be back to point to point trekking without the need for these transfers.

You will not want to leave!
Family Adventures in the Algarve
My thoughts are followed by my Daughter's: I am sure that you will not have a better family holiday anywhere else. There will be holidays with different activities. Perhaps there will be holidays with activities the equal of those we did here (though that will be hard). However I cannot imagine a holiday with a better place to stay. A farm sheltered in a beautiful valley with space for the kids to find some independence but still be safe. The micro-climate here means that the days were beautiful ly warm but the nights were cool enough to sleep (and the beds extremely comfortable). Our hosts Jonathan, Violeta and their team work so hard to make things look easy. They have created a special place where everyone is made to feel welcome in lovely accommodation with fabulous meals, generally a buffet with more than enough variety for the fussiest of eaters. The atmosphere generated meant all the different families gelled so well. Activities were run superbly with every child and adult catered for and able to succeed without any sense of pressure. Bring a sense of adventure and you will be richly rewarded! My Daughter's View (aged 11): I had the best holiday here. The Family are amazingly welcoming, the food delicious and the accommodation beautiful. On-site there is a lake where you could go anytime of the day. It has a deck to jump in from, paddle boards and a zipwire into the water. Also on-site are swings that are exciting and fun, not like ones in a playground. There are hammocks everywhere to go and chill and there is an outdoor African shower which is absolutely stunning. The activities are run by Jonathan who is really helpful and fun. My favorites were rock climbing and body boarding where he helped us improve and conquer any boundaries. This is a holiday I will never forget.

Fantastic trip, delivered in all areas for me
High Peaks of the Balkans
This trip delivered in all areas. Fantastic guide (Ardit), challenging trekking, lots of local culture, history and food. First the hiking. What can I say, the scenery was outstanding. You hike both above and below tree line. The trails are rocky, but generally not too steep. The first two days are long climbs. Our group took about 9 hours each day. I would not make this your first trekking experience. For anyone one that wants a challenging hike, this one is for you. With baggage support we car ried very light day packs. Plenty of clean cold water could be found along the trail each day. So no need to carry a huge amount of water. Our guide, Ardit, was an exceptional guide. He shared his love of the mountains, people, and culture.I learned so much about Albania and it's people. He was constantly going from the front of the pack to the back. I was always at the back of the pack, but never felt rushed to speed up. Ardit would check to make sure I was OK and assure me to hike at my own pace. Ardit was quick to resolve any issue that came up. You could tell he truly wanted to make sure we had the best possible experience. The hotels in Kosovo and Tirana were very nice. I highly recommend coming in at least one day early if you are traveling from outside of Europe. You need to make sure you are rested and fully hydrated for the start of the trek. The food in Kosovo and Tirana were excellent. Along the trek the food did get a little repetitive. Your food is generally grown by the owners of the guest houses so expect whatever is in season. The good news is all the guest houses had beer and it was a bargain. Trekking is very new in this area. The guest houses we stayed at were all nice. Some were more rustic than others. I enjoyed the various guest houses. Each one was unique. I must say my favorite was the one we stayed on the last night of the trek. They had such a nice setup. Hot showers were a hit. They also have various animals. I had a blast watching the kittens and puppies play. This trip ticked all the boxes on what I consider a great trip. I highly recommend this trip to seasoned trekkers/hikers. If you want to get away from the crowds, this is the trip for you.

Incredible trek through the magnificent Julian Alps
Across the Julian Alps to Triglav

This trek is challenging, even for experienced hikers, but worth every step. Katjia and David were incredible guides, funny, friendly, extremely professional and knew the trail and terrain extremely well. They truly made the trip, as did the beauty of the alps!

The Grossglockner - Austria's Triple Crown

Every aspect of the trip went according to plan with no delays or any other snags to report. Weather was not always ideal but not enough to affect the 3 summit ascents. There is no ATM in Vent, best to arrive with enough euros to last for the week.

Fantasic family fun!
Julian Alps Jamboree - Family Adventure

Our family of 5 (aged 11, 14, 18, and too old to mention) have just returned from the Julien Alps. This holiday ticked all the boxes for us and a couple more. The activities put on were varied, fun and challenging enough to leave us with a sense of satisfaction and slightly aching limbs at the end of each day. Our guides were wonderful and went above and beyond what was required. The spectacular scenary provides an inspiring backdrop to some exhilarating family fun.
