A challenging trek in West Kashmir
Stok Kangri Climb
Stok Kangri is a non-technical mountain at 6100 m in West Kashmir - Ladakh region. The place is stunning and just BIG in a way it's hard to be ready for until you're there. You won't need special skills, but you really want to be a bit fit. Most of the trek is fairly relaxed, but the final climb is unrelenting and you need something in reserve. There is a fair bit of chill time and it's worth taking it to make sure your body has it's chance to adapt. The flights were well organised and we were m et at every stage by a KE or RIMO rep who made sure we got to where we needed to be. Hotels were fair and clean. Food was plentiful and mostly local and largely veggie. The transfers were very slick and functional. The two guides at Leh were great, they looked after us, took us about and were full of knowledge. They are both called Rigzen as well! The acclimatisation plan is really good and all 6 people got to the 5000 m base camp with no problem. Only one person didn't make the final climb to 6000 m. On the day itself, the guide turned us round 150 m from the summit. It was obviously a difficult decision, but the conditions on the ground and in the air made it a good one. We could have pressed on, but why push it for the last 150 m when we would have got no view from the top? It was a good decision and we broke 6000 m for our log books. The camp crew were excellent. Cooks, sherpas, camp staff, and horsemen. The horses looked in good shape and seemed well looked after - when one fell ill there was every evidence of care and sense in looking after it. Advice to future travellers? You will need a good sleeping bag for September departures. Everyone thinks they have a good bag, but the kit list says -10C and I would say that's only just going to be good enough. I had a -7C rated bag with a silk liner and I wound up sleeping in almost all my clothes. Take a cheap pair of thermal leggings, tie the ends of the legs into knots and put your feet in them or they will get cold. Make sure you have a good down or synthetic thermal jacket. Finally I would take a pot of moisturising cream. The air at altitude is dry and cold and if you have dry skin it'll crack. Great trip - I have lots of memories and learned lots. Good staff especially the guides.

this trek ticks all the boxes
High Tatras Trekking - The Carpathian Mountains
Poland flat? No, it has amazing mountains bordering Slovakia. I took this trip on my daughter’s recommendation. It had the three elements important in my opinion for a successful trip – Location-Organisation –Good Guide. The location was amazing, the mountains so majestic and the people so very friendly. The organisation was what you would expect from KE, first class in every way from the initial booking, being met at the airport, hotels, huts and food. Oh and the professional way the team at KE hq dealt with my endless questions!!! Due to an unexpected drop in temperature causing ice on the Polish ascent of Rysy, we were bussed around to the Slovakian side to ensure a safe ascent and that we did not miss out on this great climb with its amazing views. The most impressive aspect was out guide Antoni, a most knowledgeable and enthusiastic young graduate who bent over backwards to ensure everything went well for his clients. He is without doubt the best KE guide I have been on a trek with. He always had a smile and told us that he believed he had a the best job in the world because the Tatras were his office.

An excellent cultural, trekking and climbing adventure in the lap of the Gods!
Sacred Summits of Olympus and Meteora
From day 1 the team gelled and under the experienced leader Ivo and our guest from KE Hugh I knew this was going to be a great trip. I had never been to Greece before and I wasn't disappointed. The hotel bases in Kastraki and Litahoro were excellent. The food in the local restaurants superb. The Meteora monastaries made it an interesting start to the trip before the main course climbing Mount Olympus. The Gods were on our side too as the weather had threatened to spoil things but rain stayed awa y and we trekked in brilliant sunshine. Despite a fall by one of our team on the descent from one of the refuges the response from our guide ensured that any injury was dealt with quickly and efficiently. I would certainly recommend this trip to anyone wanting a slice of culture adding to what was a brilliant trekking adventure.

Thought provoking, educational and challenging
Mount Damavand and the Pearls of Persia

The trekking was tough as expected but the mountain guides were very experienced and inspired confidence. They were also great people. The cultural part showed up my ignorance of the great Persian empire and Persepolis was an outstanding archaeological site. The stand out memories of the trip will be the welcome we received from ordinary Iranian people who seemed genuinely pleased to see us in Iran and the group itself which was very supportive and fun to be with. Excellent holiday

Expertly planned and executed holiday.
Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc

The entire holiday from choice to booking to experience went superbly. Our fellow trekers were excellent company and our guide Keith was invaluable. The accommodation from huts to hotels was of a good standard as was the food; despite the high calorie usage I actually gained a couple of pounds! I'd recommend KE to anyone.

AWESOME !!! TRIP OF A LIFETIME
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

We had a great Trek along the Ancient Inca Trail. The trip was well organized and the airport connections and transfers were seamless. Although we rarely "repeat vacations" , if we did, we would certainly re-book with KE Adventures to do it all over again. Go to Machu Picchu !

The first 'Ultimate Tour' for me.......I'm ready for more!
Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc
The day usually began with an ascent ( usually one of two or more!), except from the back door of Cabane d’Orny at 2831 when we descended through cloud! We were blessed with perfect weather and walking conditions and a tenacious, professional, good humoured guide, Rob, a mountain gem! The Refuges were excellent...a view, beer, shower, swiftly served hearty, delicious 3 course meal and a comfortable bed......all a tired, happy body could ask for. Luggage transfer was also efficient but we relis hed the last 2 nights back at Yeti Lodge and the chance to unpack completely and air the bags!! Each day a new chapter and physical challenge with the ever present simply awesome scenery. The lungs and legs gained capacity and strength and I was sad to finish on day 10! The Haute Route now beckons!!

A Wonderful Week in an Untouched Corner of France
The Ecrins Circuit - GR54
I have just returned from a wonderful week of walking in the Ecrins National Park. The trip encompassed long, varied walks, with significant ascents each day - but it was well worth some thigh burn for the spectacular views! Our guide, Myriam, was extremely competent as a leader; knowledgeable, approachable, and organised, adjusting the pace of walks as required by the group. She also had a wonderful sense of humour and very much enjoyed giving us melons to take up the mountain each day for our picnic lunches! Highlights: amazing views especially during the 3 cols day, staying overnight at a remote mountain hut (with hot showers!), Myriam's delicious lunchtime salads, excellent company of 5 other wonderful hikers, and the quietness of the routes (meaning regular marmot and chamois spotting!) Notes to other hikers: take all weather gear (we had blistering sun, pouring rain and snow showers across the week!), take a lunch pot with a well fitting lid (to avoid any beetroot disasters!), take any extra snacks (especially fruits) from the UK as you don't get to go to many/any shops during the week, embrace drinking coffee from a bowl (it is delicious despite lack of mug!), and note that the sleeping sheet liner and towel are needed most nights so don't get your towel dirty paddling in a stream on the first day! I highly recommend this trip for anyone wishing for: spectacular, high-up views; remote, quiet routes; happy shoulders (main luggage transported so day pack can be relatively light) and an overall wonderful week in a magical, somewhat untouched region of France.

Reliving memories
Best of the Tour du Mont Blanc

First completed TMB independently in 1982. This was a fun way to revisit highlights, to share the experience with some Canadian friends and to learn more about the environment around Mont Blanc. Ronan was a cool guide, always willing to share his knowledge and with time for everyone in the group. Variety of accommodation - special mention of the Buvette du Soleil in Les Champieux - and some great local cuisine. And, we were lucky with the early September weather. Recommended!

My first trip with KE and it will keep me come back to KE for more Adventures.
Lake Como and St Moritz
This was a trip of a lifetime and one made especially great due to our very knowledgeable guide Furio. He was attentive to each group member and worked well helping us whether we had questions about the region, the hiking route, vegetation or the geology; Furio was well read in all areas. The hikes that we did daily were done at an easy pace, that said the duration was a little longer than most of us in the trip expected and we all agreed that the trip might be better of with a slightly higher r ating. I loved every day and have not a single complaint. Luckily everyone in the group was fit and able to complete the hikes each day. There were a couple sections in Italy and also Switzerland where the drop offs that we walked along were a tiny bit steep so it is important that one doesn't have a fear of heights. The views were truly spectacular and I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves a physical challenge. I managed the trails just fine and I have a torn ACL. Most of the footpaths are level and not very technical. The hotel in Bellagio was lovely and close walking distance to the shops and ferry. In St. Moritz the Hostel was well above what I was expecting. The hostel is not like any Hostel I have ever stayed in and was extremely clean. The only negative about the Hostel would be that there was only wifi in the lobby but on the plus side it then brought us all together again for apres hike cocktails and much needed downtime. The buffet breakfast at both accommodations was great. Over all, anyone who wants to trek these parts, don't hesitate. I am so glad I found KE and this tour. Thank you KE for putting such a superb trip together! Chantal

A great first visit to Africa experience with excellent game viewing.
Botswana Wildside Lodge Safari
We chose this tour because it wasn't full-on camping, but did offer some camping in the Delta, which was one of the highlights, largely made special by the local people used to ferry us into the Delta by Mokoros, keeping the camp fire going, guiding the walking safaris and providing fantastic entertainment on the last night, which they clearly enjoyed as much as us. There were so many WOW moments when it came to the animals and birds. We were lucky enough to see the Big 5, but also had time to w atch and observe. In particular, the free afternoon in Moreimi at the gorgeous Hyena Pans Lodge, when we just watched elephants (literally hundreds!) coming to the waterhole all afternoon. The second leopard we saw was stalking prey and again there was time to stop and watch something very special. We not only saw White Rhino, but Black as well, who saw fit to scratch itself on the side of the 'Red Elephant' - this being the name given to our very comfortable form of transport. There are some long days on the road, so the comfort of the 'Red Elephant' was welcome, along with all the gear for delicious lunches along the way. The long trip into Moreimi and back is by open-sided safari vehicle, which can be chilly in the mornings (blankets provided) and also dry and dusty - we bumped into 3 of our party all buying vaseline for our dry lips on our return to Maun. The optional flight over the Okavango was very worthwhile - lots of game to be seen and it helps understand the delta area. Your pictures of the salt pans are out-of-date, as they are now filled with water again, after very good rains, so some good bird-watching and buffalo herds around and a great place to watch the African sunset. We didn't expect food to be a highlight of the trip, but the meals prepared by the guides and the meals out in restaurants were varied and delicious, though vegetarians may struggle with the meat-oriented menus. The meals and accommodation at Hyena Pans was wonderful - the glamping much-appreciated after the camping. We weren't sure about how to tackle a safari holiday, but knew we didn't want the experience of 20 vehicles, racing to see a lion. Yes, we did share the viewing of a leopard and a male lion with a kill, but only with 3-4 other vehicles and all were respectful of the animals, so we just watched their natural behaviour. So an excellent choice for a first trip to Africa

NOT value for money
The Ecrins Circuit - GR52 - Private Sadler Group
This was the third consecutive annual trip I have made with KE. This trip was NOWHERE near the standard I expected based on the two previous trips and for the money we paid for a nine person private trip. 1/ The first and last night's accommodation you rated as a hotel. A bit of a dump I have to say offering NO evening meals. This is not an hotel. 2/ At one Gite/Hostel we had to do our own clearing and washing up after breakfast. No one in attendance. 3/ At Turin airport we were picked up by a m inibus who's driver had to use MY credit card to get out of the airport carpark and also a colleague's credit card to pay one of the tolls (we were reimbursed by our guide). The mini bus driver obviously had no idea how to get from Turin airport to Briancon a journey which took well over the two hours allocated for the trip. This journey included a number of dangerous manourvres en route. 4/ With one or two exceptions the accommodation was substandard. 5/ You had a private booking of 9 people making maximum profit but in my opinion you ripped us off. On the positive side our guide Antoine was excellent and very professional. Alan McPherson

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review. As you will know from our private correspondence with another member of your party, we have now dealt with the matter of your driver. He was a replacement for our normal driver (who was taken ill) and we are sorry that this seems to have spoiled your trip. We are sorry that you feel this trip was not value for money but pleased that you found Antoine to be excellent and very professional.

Hiking the Chemin de la Liberte
Walk to Freedom across the Pyrenees

Loved loved loved this holiday. Amazing scenery, great people and a history behind the route that is captivating. Our guides John and Charlie were amazing and made sure that everyone as able to complete the trail at their own pace. I can't wait to get home , put my feet up and spend some time going through the KE Adventure website deciding on which of their adventures I want to do next. Thank you to the KE Adventure team for an amazing experience. Colin Chaplin, Cape Town.

KE really let us (and themselves) down with this trip
High Peaks of the Balkans
After 8 excellent KE treks, this was a major disappointment. We are particularly unimpressed that KE has denied all responsibility for the problems. 1. KE booked the flights, allowing far too little time for the transfer in Frankfurt. As a result we arrived in Tirana 12 hours late and missed the first day trek. No compensation has been offered for this. We will never book flights through KE again - and advise others accordingly. We had thought that booking through them would give us some protect ion - this is not the case. 2. The trip dossier suggests 6 days walking. Day 6 has NO walking - just 5-6 hours total of minibus travel, 3 hours ferry and some evening sight-seeing. Day 5 offers just 90 mins walking. If you are looking for a holiday with 6 days walking this is not for you. 3. I was excluded from the final summit climb to Zla Kollata because the guide was anxious about having time to cook supper. I was a bit slower than others so we might have reached camp 30-40 mins after the 5pm arrival - but KE are claiming this was a safety issue. I felt humiliated by the whole process, but again no compensation - not even a bunch of flowers as an apology. The guide, Besi, was great, particularly in his generous sharing of knowledge about Albania. And we loved Albania and felt that walking there was a privilege - so lots good. Such a shame that KE's response has not been what we might have expected as regular KE travellers.

KE Adventure reply

We are sorry that after 8 excellent treks with us, your experience on this trip has changed your mind about KE. We have had several email exchanges with you and a phone call to express our sympathy for the situation in which you found yourself. We have explained to you that appropriate connection times are determined by the airline, and we have taken this up with Lufthansa. When we were notified that you had missed your connection in Frankfurt, we worked hard to enable you to rejoin your group for the start of the trek and are sorry that the journey left you too tired to take part in the first day’s walk. With regard to the walk timings, these are described in detail in the trip notes. We understand and sympathise with your disappointment at being excluded from the final summit climb to Zla Kolata. This decision was made by your guide, on the grounds of safety for yourself and also for the group as a whole. Although we are saddened that your opinion of KE is now less after your previous excellent experiences, we are none-the-less pleased that you loved Albania and that you felt walking there was a privilege.

An amazing holiday in Southern Africa, well organised.
Cape Town to Victoria Falls Lodge Safari
Our (my wife and I) spent almost 4 weeks in Southern Africa, which was all well organised through KE Adventures. The middle three weeks were with Sunways Safari tours on a small group, accommodated trip. KE Adventures do well to be the UK representative for this Johannesburg based travel company; they are also very well organised and gave us a great trip. We started in Cape Town at Sweetest accommodation (we were in Sweetest Orange) which was a good choice. Well situation, very homely and lots o f local advice. We did all the tourist bits of Cape Town (Botanical gardens, Groot Constantia wines, Cape of Good Hope, Seal colony, District 6 museum, etc) and had a very good 2 days before the tour started. The tour had two excellent guides cum driver and cook. It was a small tour (which suited us) and was accommodated so we stayed in hotels, lodges and fixed tents (not quite glamping, but not roughing it either!). The tour up through Namibia, Botswana and into Zimbabwe has many highlights (dune 45, Etosha NP, Chobe NP and, possibly best of all, the Okavango delta). Be prepared for quite rough roads and lots of dust. Most places have laundry if you want, but more relaxing to just accept it and know that you will be clean again when you get to Vic Falls! At Vic Falls you can go over the bridge to the Zambia side (around a 3 Km walk) but must pass through immigration; make sure you get a dual visa at the border on the way in - for UK residents the price is the same at the moment. A meal in the Vic Falls is a wonderful bit of luxury to round of the trip. So, all in all an excellent trip, well organised from both the UK side (KE Adventures) and on the African side. Thoroughly recommended on both counts. One final point to note: - Nothing that can be done about it but you cannot pick who you go with. On our tour there were two very awkward people (out of 10 of us), however handled this as well as could be expected, as did the rest of the tour group to try and keep them in order. Just one of those things - you cannot let such situations spoil your own holiday.

Great walking trip
Across the Julian Alps to Triglav

Great hiking. Some tough bits but the days were never too long. Knowledgeable and friendly guides. We unfortunately walked in a cloud for a few days but whenever the clouds parted the views were gorgeous. The huts are generally basic but fine - you appreciate a bit of warmth and comfort food after the hiking!
